The Quilladin example isn't a meme in the same sense as Pikachu & ketchup or the jelly donuts incident, and seems to exist solely to complain about Quilladin. The initial response to that species was a knee-jerk reaction that was forgotten about by the time the fandom was introduced to Chesnaught.
