Star Wars Battlefront 2 is #4 on my "Favourite Video Games of All Time'' list. Its spectacular gameplay still holds up today — it's certainly better than that 2015 pretender.
The 2004 game was already spectacular, but Battlefront 2 makes things even better. You have a story mode that's actually got a story, you can play as heroes, and you can fight in space battles. It must be seen (or in this case, played) to be believed.
I don't know what Pandemic was doing in the early and mid 2000s, but whatever it was, they knocked the ball so far out of the park it wasn't even in the same galaxy anymore (pun oh-so intended). If there's something I regret about the Legends reboot, it's that this game is no longer canon.
Star Wars Battlefront II still holds up today. If you haven't played the game, you need to. If you've already played it, you need to play it again. It is the pinnacle of the entire Battlefront mini-franchise. And I'm going to keep playing it until my disc is ground into dust.
