VideoGame Could be more with professionals behind it.
Look the game is fun, the limits are endless with the potential characters that can be made. But one reviewer was right "it's a jumbled mess.". A lot of characters are incompatible with other characters, there's tons of bugs and errors, but it's still fun. It's also can be tedious putting your game together. And don't expect to get any real snark free help from the MUGEN "community".
VideoGame The experience is what you make of it.
Though the engine itself is still growing in terms of feature development, it can be used as a springboard for fighting game projects if one is willing to learn how to utilize the resources and understand what makes what work. Of course there are balance issues, but that's because most content is created "free-flow" with no real expectation that balancing is going to be going on unless the engine is being used to make a standalone free game such as The Black Heart.
The community itself is just that, a community—there are going to be people that are helpful and those that are not. It's all a matter of how one chooses to approach things and whether they're making an effort to go through all the proper channels.
