This was (and still is) a fun game series. The combat is excellent, and the story is not only well-written, but easy to get into. I remember spending hours on playing the first Dungeon Siege. :)
Though it does have its pitfalls. Having replayed Legends of Aranna recently, let's just say it reminded me of a description from a website I once saw about the "Best and Worst of Final Fantasy." LoA reminded me of the site's description for "Least Entertaining Final Fantasy Game," and it goes something like this: "A game that you wished would end before you were anywhere near the ending, which took you a long time to get to because you didn't really feel like playing it, and once you finish it you will never play it again."
Dungeon Siege II, on the other hand, is probably the most fun RPG I ever played (until I started World Of Warcraft, of course :P). The story is even better, and the action is more fun than the first two games. Who doesn't love having powers? And then there's the more fleshed out companions you can get for your party. I just love Taar. :) (Not too fond of Deru, though)
However, even DS II has its drawbacks. And these are them:
I know this might sound silly, but I think the enemies in the game might have been a little too original. Originality is good, but I also would have liked to fight some of the more "traditional" RPG monsters.
Who's idea was it to give some of the Elves Cockney accents? I'll let that one speak for itself.
Fortunately, the pros of the game far outweigh the cons. In my humble opinion, anyway. :P
Oh yeah, since I created the page for it, too, if you do decide to pick up DS II (which I would not blame you for), you must get Broken World as well. Trust me; you don't want to finish playing a game by being left saying "What a rotten ending."
VideoGame Excellent Game
