Angry Birds 2 is a highly enjoyable game. The changes introduced by it fix many of the older titles' issues, and allow you to beat a level no matter how hard you screw up, which previously could have resulted in a complete roadblock if you didn't know what to do to successfully topple some tower. With the randomly generated levels and the randomly generated selections of birds, combined with the various abilities of the birds and a number of special powerups you can use, the game is always engaging and every level can play out in a vastly different way. Add in the possibility to compete with other players for points, various trophies to unlock a'la Rayman Legends, and you get a perfect time-waster to enjoy for hours on end...
...if you're one of the lucky few who have access to cheats.
Because without them, you have to face the game's limitations.
Arbitrary limitations.
Ones where you either have to wait for a ridiculous amount of time for something to unlock, or pay money.
Real money.
On every. Single. Step.
The game gives you max 5 lives. Run out of them? Wait for several hours, or pay money!
Run out of birds before you could complete a level? We can give you one more for watching an ad.
Run out of birds still? That will be 1 dollar for 3 more birds.
Wanna compete in the arena more than once? Wait until tomorrow, or whip out that wallet already.
Want to speed up the leveling process to "git gud"? WE HAVE A SPECIAL OFFER FOR YOU THAT YOU CAN ONLY TAKE DURING THE NEXT 15 MINUTES, IF YOU TAKE IT, WE'LL INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF SOME STUFFS FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS, BUY IT NOW!!!
You get the idea. The game is utterly shameless in how much of a cash grab it is. It removes any imaginable enjoyment out of the game pretty quickly and as a result, either makes you lose interest, or go broke.
I mean, if they REALLY need to go with a practice like this, would it really be too much to ask for some sort of a Gold Account that you could buy once, even if for an outrageous price of 50$ (which still doesn't compare to 100$ for 8000 gems, which equals to 100 more tries at continuing a level), and after buying it, you would never have to be bothered by ads and microtransactions again?
The game itself is very good. Its financial managers (or whoever is responsible) can rot in hell.
VideoGame A good game ruined by a greedy company.
