Director X is clearly someone whose understanding of the story of Robin Hood starts and ends at "Steal from the rich to give to the poor". Though according the previews, it's merely "Rob the rich" and that's it.
Robyn is a woman who feels every problem she has can be solved by robbing John Prince of his legitimately earned fortune. In the first episode, her mother is arrested for trespassing on Mr Prince's property. Robyn's solution when she thinks her mom will be killed is to break into his home, assault him with lethal weapons, then steal his car to pay her mom's bail. The next episode starts with her worrying "John Prince isn't the type to forgive and forget" when they just assaulted and robbed him less than twelve hours prior.
The story doesn't improve from there. The Hood gang constantly brag about their crimes online in a way any remotely competent police department or DA would drool over (including stating where they live) yet somehow don't get caught because the police are so incompetent that at one point they "search" an apartment by checking one closet then leaving. The "Heroes" are somehow less sympathetic than the villains who use resort to crime even when they have no reason to and only succeed due to random luck. A guy had his prized guitar broken by Prince's son, Chet? Well rather than buy him a new one with all their proceeds from robbing John Prince, they decide to rob John Prince again (which then becomes assaulting and kidnapping Chet). Heck, they decide to keep robbing people when they haven't even finished laundering (sorry, "donating") the money they made off their first heist. Meanwhile the police are so incompetent that they decide an acquaintance of Robyn's mother is "The Hood" because "She must have snapped when her friend was paralyzed", rather than the woman's daughter who also tries to strangle a police officer in that same episode. Any deduction by the heroes is purely nonsensical but right because the writer doesn't understand detective work either, such as Robyn finding an easter bunny costume in a random locker and determining that it not only belongs to the woman she just attacked but that she's the "Monster" Tuck mentioned earlier, despite him giving no description of said monster at all.
It's not until halfway through the final episode the writers remember John hasn't done anything worse than threatening a mayor with bad (but accurate) publicity, so he goes from "Wants to buy Sherwood Apartments to replace its residents with 'the right kind of people'" to wanting to flood a quarter of the city to "Give his castle a moat". It's as nonsensical as it sounds. Before that, he's treated as scum for offering Robin's mother a million dollars, full scholarships for her children, and covering all her medical bills so long as she personally stops protesting him buying her apartment building. Or for offering to pay for new apartments for everyone in Sherwood Apartments if they just let him buy the place.
