I've never watched anything created by Mindy Kaling, but I love her as a comedian. Never Have I Ever takes a serious premise (main character is a Jerkass because of trauma and has to get over it) and handles it with so much comedy and relatability. I (an autistic person) can actually relate to it more than Atypicalnote Seriously, even though it keeps growing some stubble, Netflix should at least have an episode where that lousy caricature should stay out of the limelight since I felt like crap for nearly six months after catching the flu. Even when Devi gets a slight Jerkass Ball in the final episode at the point one would expect her to have developed, it still feels well-written. I like how it subverts/deconstructs many teen drama tropes (such as Ivy League for Everyone, seriously, does that mean anything?) And caution, Rick and Morty fans, there's an episode that throws Take That! at your fandom.
Also, Netflix, when are we gonna get a Cazzie spinoff from Atypical?
Series Off to a great start!
