I've been rewatching the Brazilian 2015 remake from "Complices al Rescate", which is a rather infamous kid friendly soap opera from Mexico that's best known for the lead actress being replaced halfway through the story, as much as the original hold some nostalgia value for many people who grew with it and I appreciate it a lot for being the only known kid soap opera with twin main characters, the writing still had some glaring mistakes such as the twins mom not knowing that she had twin girls despite the fact they were born in a hospital, the Rescue Arc of said twins lasting more than it should have been, the boring as hell scenes with secondary characters and the lack of character development aside from a few characters such as the twins Mariana and Silvana as well as Priscila and her neglectful mom.
But then, the 2015 remake came out when I was 13 years old, so I noticed some things that bothered me back then and I decided to watch the original version for the first time to see if it was better back in early 2016 and rewatched it during the pandemic, but now as an adult, I noticed that the remake didn't fix most of the issues that the original had!
Look, I don't think a good adaptation needs to represent accurately the source material(at least not anymore) and that's why the 2015 remake fails in terms of being an adaptation by taking some flaws from the original and making it worse, one of the original's biggest flaws was that it was longer than it should have been since it ended with 132 episodes, and guess what? The remake has 357 episodes!! The original had issues with sidelining Mariana after the lead actress got replaced and making the series be mainly about Silvana, and guess what? The remake "fix" this issue by making Silvana become the sole main focus from the get go while Mariana gets very little development, the remake also had issues with boring scenes of the secondary characters, and guess what?? They all get more screen time now!! The twins mom didn't know she had twins in the original and guess what???? SHE DOESN'T KNOW SHE HAS TWINS IN THE REMAKE AS WELL!!
But don't get me wrong, the remake is fine as its own thing and is actually very enjoyable but as an adaptation, it's not very great and the fact that the most notable changes were on the secondary characters and Silvana ending up with Ramón(who thankfully does not get miraculously healed from his blindness in the remake), certainly does not help matters.
Series the remake is fine but still missed the opportunity to fix some of the original's most glaring mistakes
