I Want to Eat Your Pancreas goes roughly like: "an introverted "asocial" high-schooler accidentally stumbles upon his overly popular female classmate's diary, finds out that she suffers from an incurable disease and in return she makes his life complete mess before going out for good". Maybe I overdid it with the mess part but to me it looks like Yoru Sumino is doing their hardest to get their point across.
Which probably goes: "Minding your own goddamn business is a bad thing."
No matter how much I tried to justify Sakura's shenanigans, I couldn't. It wasn't so bad at first, but the "truth or dare" game at the hotel was kind of too intrusive.
Then came the part where Sakura suggested doing "forbidden" things, by which she clearly crossed the protagonist's line. Even suffering from a deadly disease doesn't give you the right to do such thing. It basically was understandable that he mildly snapped at that point and showed her what does it look like when push comes to shove.
Immediately after that came the scene with the jealous class-rep assaulting the protag. So now not only his life is disturbed and the entire class is gossiping about him but some people also hate his guts. Excellent work, young lady. You shoul be proud.
Was the twist in the finale supposed to make you cry as the promo claimed? Well it didn't work with me. I was more like: "hah, you didn't see that coming, did you, girl?"
I now leave you with a word of advice. If you see somebody else's journal or something like that, leave it be and put some distance between it and yourself. It just might save your peaceful uneventful life.
