Literature Overall, a quite enjoyable series.
I've read the entire series multiple times, and still enjoy it whole heartedly.
The humor is simply top-notch with the way the characters interact, Angus, and the antics of Libby, and some bits are genuinely emotional. However, one of the things I enjoy most is that Georgia, the main character and narrator, is a flawed person, with plenty of issues. She's self-centered, thinking more about herself than others, overly critical of friends and family at times, and her narration (Since it's her diary) is heavily biased in spots. Despite all of this, she manages to be a friendly person, who you want to succeed in getting Robbie. Er, Masimo. Or possibly Dave the Laugh. She isn't quite sure.
In closing, it is definitely worth the read.
Literature Fabulously funny.
A funny read for teen girls. Louise Rennison's writing is highly unique, funny without being too overly-stupid or ridiculous (kind of), and has genuine moments of sweetness and sentimentality.
The books are relatable in the way that the main character Georgia's complaints and qualms about school and friends and just overall life as a teenager are very similar to those of real life teens. Not relatable in the way that Georgia, aged around 14-15, somehow manages to snag older, much more mature boys despite her immaturity and general stupidity around them. Nevertheless, despite her stubborn and often mean and petulant ways, Georgia is still likeable and readers will grow fond of her as they progress through the series.
Perhaps the first few volumes are arguably better than the last, but the series still manages to end with dignity intact, although the last book cuts it quite close, ending with not a gradual finish so much as a screeching halt. However, longtime fans of the series may find it excusable enough given who Georgia ends up with in the conclusion.
Overall, a highly enjoyable series. These books will make you laugh out loud.
