The Little Rascals deserves so much credit for having a good amount of humor and heart and practically being every millennial and Gen Zer's introduction to the Our Gang series of short films from the 1920s and 30s. It still tries way too hard to update the setting from the Great Depression to the early 90s, thus making it difficult for fans of the original shorts to enjoy this movie without thinking about how it goes against virtually everything the series stood for. In particular, the kids aren't impoverished and behave like they're part of the middle class. And don't even get me started on all the blatant and shoehorned celebrity cameos (especially a particular businessman who two decades later became one of the most controversial Presidents in modern American history).
While I thought it was average, I really wouldn't recommend this film to anyone unfamiliar with the Our Gang series. If anything, just watch the original short films instead.
Film Better off watching the original short films
