I just want to say I loved the movies! I wish there could be more room to describe why.
First of all, he filmmakers had captured the nostalgia of the time periods included. While combining modern filming techniques that makes them a perfect balance. Viewers from every time period, whether past or modern kids, can enjoy those. It makes me wonder if they took notes from Stranger Things.
Second, brilliant characters, especially Simone, Alex, Ziggy, and Kate. So many badass characters and likable traits that put them against the monsters. Speaking of the monsters, they are also amazing. My favorite one is Ruby Lane. For singing “You always hurt the ones you love,” which matches her profile, making her more sinister.
The music intensifies all the scenes and great song choices. No Soundtrack Dissonance at all. Though I wonder why they include songs that were released after 78 and 94. Either way, I am planning on listening to every song used.
I wouldn’t recommend those to genre savvy people. Plenty of cliches I had seen before. I won’t spoil them, but expect to see similar ploys you had seen if you are a horror movie goer. But they had plenty of twists I hadn’t seen coming. So it makes up for the predictable parts.
My favorite one in the trilogy so far is the 1666, since I love historical movies. I love how they included both Sarah Frier’s story and the present plot without adding too much weight. The music is even better in this one, and boy, the plot twist had me onto my toes.
In the end, I thought “damn, just damn... That was one hell of a horror movie series.” If you didn’t watch them, you are missing out on an amazing experience.
