All four of the fics are worth a read but the strongest (and the one I keep going back to reread) is Compass Points North, because it actually looks at both what might have existed in the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation cultures to cause the Air Nomad genocide and what is necessary to make peace happen in the future- at the same time all the interactions feel natural and its clear that the author has a strong grasp on the characterisation of the canon characters. The O Cs that exist are mostly background used to serve the story and flesh out the Avatar world nicely and the spelling and grammar is consistently good.
The first two fics; Touch and Go and Cauterise do a really good job of setting up the later character interactions and are emotional in their own right, with Zukos rapidly shifting world view and subsequent effects being a nice catalyst for drama with out it being over blown.
Towards the Rising Sun has brilliant and funny Zuko/Aang interaction, but does suffer a little bit from ending fatigue, as it is the longest in the series.
FanficRecs Really Strong Characterisation- Worth Reading Even if You Don't Like Zutara
