FanficRecs A lot more than meets the summary
Dobby Elf Lord has some amazing stories but I consider this one to be his greatest. The summary is so frustratingly shallow compared to how the story ends up. It seems more like the summary is for the first few chapters. Without spoiling anything more than what Dobby Elf Lord wanted with his summary I will say this, once it really gets going it just builds and builds and just gets better and better. The fight scenes are quite good especially when it gets into the WWII part of the story. Harry isn't superharry yet more than a match for most wizards. In my opinion the best part of this fic is atmosphere of the war. There is alot more than just dueling other wizards, there is the spy network which is very dangerous work, agents on both sides, death, capture, psychological warfare, stealth and action. The emotional side of the story is also quite well done. Due to the whole in the past thing Harry's only choice for romance is with an oc but Dobby Elf Lord makes this work quite well.
- Character spoilers for about chapter 2-4 or so (of 39)**
Spoilers be here. Tom becomes a very nicely written character when he becomes part of Harry's family and seeing some of the issues he has growing up really makes you think about the power of a positive action. The Father/Son relationship that Harry and Tom have really brings a new aspect to the war that is going on around them.
- end spoilers**
For a few final words I will simply say leave yourself a bit of time to read this because once you start you won't be able to stop!
FanficRecs Coulda Been A Contender
This...doesn't quite work, as it doesn't quite feel like we're really dealing with Misato. The story is determined not to help in this, by doing everything it can to disguise who this new EVA pilot is. Measures taken to disguise it from the other characters rapidly spread to the rest of the text, making it harder for the reader to stay connected with this-is-Misato.
There is room in the interplay between the guardian and the guarded for a good story, and the author bought even more room for themselves with the age-down, but the execution failed in the author's rush to shear off the bits of Misato's adult life so he could avoid any potential squick. The Distant Finale, which rejects either of them taking any sort of pride or having any sense of accomplishment about, y'know, saving the human race or in Misato's case wiping out the Angelic one, is the capstone to a long, slow breakdown of characters.
FanficRecs The Tygre's review
I'm gonna' be honest here. The writing is kind of choppy, but damn if it doesn't go fast and keep you addicted. This troper has ADHD friends who sat down long enough to finish this story. Further, if you don't like cheerful, just move along. This story still has the same foreboding sense of doom and approaching Armageddon as all Eva, but toned down. Every chapter ends with some form of hilarious Omake. The very end is just epic. And the last chapter...the reason I recommend this story is because of the last chapter. The last chapter made me CRY. Warm, quick, and just overall uplifting, this more-plausible-than-it-sounds novella is definitely worth any reader's time.

Anon: Very good time travel fic. Harry goes back in time to kill an infant Voldemort but faces complications. Lots of interesting things happen along the way. There are a fair amount of minor typos a decent editor would have fixed and it suffers from the Written-Before-Deathly-Hallows Syndrome, so even before Harry's arrival it's an AU. But if you can accept those things, I think you'll really enjoy it.
Leber: Quite a good fic. Not that great in the first couple chapters, but a few chapters in the author really hits his stride and his writing improves noticeably. After that it becomes an exciting whirlwind of espionage and action that's quite refreshing. Definitely worth a full read.
