To be honest, I have no complaints with this story arc. Both began and end with a shocking note, shocking nonetheless. The fact that this villain being an Evil Counterpart of the legend we come to know and love is a tyrannical supervillain who extends his reign of terror across the Power Rangers multiverse. I would say that Shattered Grid is basically Power Rangers meets Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Drakkon is basically the PR equivalent of Regime Superman.
But, the real downer on the part is how did in God's name BOOM Studios had killed Tommy freakin' Oliver of all people at the beginning of the arc? It maybe shocking as I said, but JDF gave the thumbs up to kickstart the plot.
For the characters, I really sympathize with Ranger Slayer!Kim and Finster 5. The former was unknowingly forced to serve Drakkon against her will until she realizes it later on, while Finster 5, expressed genuine concern for Drakkon's well-being, is apparently the sanest guy in Drakkon's army, and Drakkon killing the poor dude is just unbearable to watch.
The overall story arc is already crazy on its own, but this is how crossovers and alternate timelines in the comic superhero genre works. Seeing your Alternate Self nothing more but a monstrous caricature of what you will become if you took the wrong path in the worst way possible is something that your prime counterpart have to deal with. Regardless of anyone's complaints, I have none. I watched Power Rangers back as a kid, and the BOOM Studios comicbook series takes a whole new level for those who grew up watching from MMPR and beyond.
ComicBook A rollercoaster ride of epic proportions
