* The Are Kids Shows Better Now Video. Now I\'m not going to get all cartoons where better when I was young nonsense but this video was awful. Critic\'s entire argument for cartoons being better today is basically that they are [[DarkerAndEdgier]] and have deeper topics. I literally don\'t have enough room to list all the shows that have done that very thing long before any of the 3 or 4 modern shows he mentioned did or argue that other shows did\'nt need to be dark to be interesting to adults. Absolutely none of his arguments have not been done long before now or make any sense. Just because something is dark does not mean that it is instantly good. He lists several topics including abandonment, anxiety, depression, inferiority that are tackled in today\'s cartoons.... Once again there are MANY cartoons that did this LONG before today. When he mentions abandonment he shows Amethyst from Steven Universe, he shows some other clips after that don\'t match up with the screen but this was obviously meant to match up, showing that he does\'nt even know what he is talking about. * The Are Kids Shows Better Now Video. Now I\\\'m not going to get all cartoons where better when I was young nonsense but this video was awful. Critic\\\'s entire argument for cartoons being better today is basically that they are [[DarkerAndEdgier]] and have deeper topics. I literally don\\\'t have enough room to list all the shows that have done that very thing long before any of the 3 or 4 modern shows he mentioned did or argue that other shows did\\\'nt need to be dark to be interesting to adults. Absolutely none of his arguments have not been done long before now or make any sense. Just because something is dark does not mean that it is instantly good. He lists several topics including abandonment, anxiety, depression, inferiority that are tackled in today\\\'s cartoons.... Once again there are MANY cartoons that did this LONG before today. When he mentions abandonment he shows Amethyst from Steven Universe, he shows some other clips after that don\\\'t match up with the screen but this was obviously meant to match up, showing that he does\\\'nt even know what he is talking about. Amethyst was made as a war weapon and was taken in by the Crystal Gems, we don\\\'t know exactly when but she never had any problem with abandonment. Her problem was that she was a \\\"parasite\\\". Just because other shows where less obvious or handled topics in a different way does\\\'nt mean that they did\\\'nt do it. Next he mentions shows having season long specific plots like Gravity Falls. Once again other shows have done it before. To top it all off the way he starts the video is extremely annoying. He states kids show are much better now than before while wearing the most annoying \\\" yea you gotta admit it its true\\\" shit eating grin on his face as if there is no argument against him. The things he claims that shows are doing nowadays have been in cartoons for over 20 years. I dont have anything against today\\\'s cartoons, I adore Gravity Falls and Steven Universe, and I\\\'m hopeful more are on the way but to use 3 or 4 examples that have\\\'nt done any more than any other show to break the [[AnimationAgeGhetto]] to say today\\\'s cartoons are MUCH better is laughable. This video was mind numbingly gormless and vapid. I could spend an entire page debunking everything in his video by I\\\'m just gonna stop here.

Cut this for several reasons: First and foremost, the deeply ItsPersonal nature of what\\\'s written here. Even in the more subjective pages, writing things up with \\\"I\\\" and \\\"me\\\" is strongly discouraged and if you can\\\'t express yourself without that framing, it doesn\\\'t belong here. Second, the premise seems to be \\\"I disagree with Doug.\\\" You can feel strongly that the cartoons of yesteryear are on par or superior to today\\\'s offering, but if you\\\'re going to offer that take as a wallbanger, we need more than repeatedly going \\\"but Steven Universe...\\\" Third, The Critic never said that such themes had never been tackled before (or handled well), but that more shows today have more freedom to do so. Fourth, the fact that this was posted and edited multiple times by the same person suggests an \\\"AndAnotherThing\\\" mindset, which reinforces the idea that this was a general, personal disagreement with the premise than something factually wrong or thematically contradictory.

Again, \\\"I disagree strongly\\\" does not a WallBanger make.
