I didn\'t see a WMG page, so I just wanted to make a post here to see if anyone else arrived to the same conclusion about Sarge as I have.

As simulation troops, the Blood Gulchers all seem to have major flaws that precluded them from joining the real army, but made them perfect to be ferreted away as Freelancer simulation troops such as chronic insubordination and general incompetence.

But Sarge seems to be a different case altogether: he\'s extremely skilled at constructing and maintaining robotics, vehicles and the like. He\'s proven to be a consistently skilled soldier, if not exactly a master tactician. At one point it\'s even mentioned that he used to be an ODST Helljumper. My theory is that during his time as a helljumper, Sarge experienced some sort of traumatic event that resulted in an extreme form of PTSD which resulted in his lucid, yet...let\'s say \

Rather than discharge him completely, he was then snatched up by Project Freelancer and given command of a squad at Blood Gulch with the hopes that his expertise would be an asset should an outside force ever manage to locate the Alpha unit (with Butch Flowers there of course to provide around-the-clock protection). This would be easily accomplished given his initial unwavering faith in the orders given by \\\"Red Command\\\".

Take for example KarmicTrickster or OnlyBadGuysCallTheirLawyers; there is no way either of them are subtrope of a highly specific argument that somebody might make. In fact, I\'m not sure there\'s a single valid subtrope in that list at all - which ones would you consider a valid subtrope of \

This brings us back to the beginning.

I\'m not convinced, looking again I see that most of the tropes in the list of subtropes are not actually subtropes at all.
