Inspired by the disclaimer on one of the Real Life examples that admitted it was not actually an example of the trope, I trimmed several entries from that section that were just about regular old gross things in fridges. The trope description and laconic make it pretty clear that the trope is supposed to be about the untended fridge generating sentient life. Even expanding that definition to include other forms of hyperbole, there are still a lot of examples on the page that are just about normal spoiled food, or people keeping disturbing non-food perishables like specimens or body parts in their fridge.
