Even if you might not think Jeremy Clarkson is God\\\'s anointed, it is hard not to feel sympathy for him, as Marina tips all the venom on his head for which \\\"Private Eye\\\" once gave her the nickname \\\"Martina Snyde\\\".

given her role in the chain of events that led Clarkson to physically punch out Piers Morgan, it is legitimate to ask if she might not have other reasons for being so vitriolic. Like it or not, her actions as a private citizen once put her at the heart of a situation where she became newsworthy in her own right (by the standards of Fleet Street) rather than an anonymous reporter of news. Practically every other newspaper than the Guardian thought so, after all, and reported the fight detailing who was present. Private Eye went to town with it. But just try adding a comment to this Guardian-hosted thread even hinting that its author might have ulterior motives, or a hidden agenda in writing this story.... my current attempt is as below. I wonder how long it lasts before it gets wiped?

\\\"Never fight with a pig indeed, as Piers Morgan mght have said the night Clarkson\\\'s sense of humour failed completely and JC couldn\\\'t come up with a sinlge witty remark and had to resort to a swung fist... totally deplorable, of course, and displays another side of JC that I beleive should be brought into the light of day.

There.... posting reworded so as not to break community rules, as I assume the original was pulled for tacitly advocating violence against journalists? I do apologise for giving the fallacious impression that the violence was more forgivable or at least understandable in that Piers Morgan was the guy who got chinned. All violence is deplorable. Although in a fight between Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan, who do you cheer for? And more seriously, it does present Clarkson in a far less favourable light, as a man who will readily resort to fists when he runs out of bad jokes and humour that might shame a rugby club.

Now is there anything there - at all - that breaks Community Rules? Have I insulted rugby clubs by associating their general standard of humour with that of Jeremy Clarkson?\\\"

If this goes, then it will be apparent the G is protecting its journalist.....
