to:
This trope is not anything that makes you say \\\"it seemed like a good idea at the time\\\". It is a very specific chain of events that \\\'\\\'sometimes\\\'\\\' results in the trope name being said.

Yes, that \\\'\\\'is\\\'\\\' completely counter-intuitive.

DaibhidC: Is it just me, or are half the examples things that have nothing to do with the trope but contain the phrase \\\"It seemed like a good idea at the time\\\"? Maybe we should rename the \\\"Voluntarily give up one of your strengths\\\" trope, and give this one over to the phrase. Any suggestions?

TheWeirdo: Suggestion: One page for the saying with the title as is. Another for voluntarily giving up one\\\'s own strengths.
