I was wondering where this would fall in the spectrum of tropes. It\\\'s sort of Anvilicious / AnAesop (though not really) meets GettingCrapPastTheRadar or GettingCrapPastTheCensor. Since it\\\'s only one line, maybe it\\\'s an Author trope?
On a side note, they live in Ohio and Prop 8 was a California proposition. Justified in that the entire debacle is a national reaching issue as a precedent for gay rights everywhere.
