Thinking about the basic difference in definition between the USA and Britain, in defining the term \\\"Asian\\\". This depends on historic context - Americans will think of the Far East first, so that \\\"Asian\\\" to them is Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Philipino, et c. With maybe one exception, this is an American -orientated index.

Meanwhile Britain, with old Empire days in memory, associates the word Asian, first and foremost, with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka. Far Eastern ethnicities are a secondary association.

A quote that beautifully defines the difference comes from Pakistani-British comedian Eishaan Akbhar:

\\\'\\\'When I say \\\"Asian\\\", you know I mean \\\"Curry Asian\\\" and not \\\"Noodle Asian\\\".... don\\\'t you?\\\'\\\'
