I fully agree. An \\\"analysis\\\" of a genre that most frequently consists of women being assaulted, completely overwhelmed by pleasure, and then dumping the self-insert for the bastard that r*ped her just because he\\\'s bigger and better in bed shouldn\\\'t be \\\"people must hate this because they\\\'re too obsessed with the ideal purity of relationships\\\".
It\\\'s legitimately understandable why many would find it hard to \\\"enjoy\\\" a story where you\\\'re asked to take the perspective of someone who\\\'s been overpowered and/or betrayed and left watching the action without any chance of getting any. As a romance it\\\'s tragic regardless of ideals; as erotica it\\\'s a very niche fetish. The first question/statement shouldn\\\'t be \\\"why are people so obsessed with purity that they can\\\'t enjoy this\\\", it should be \\\"why do some people find such \\\'bad end\\\' scenarios so fun\\\".

All that said, I do think that the obsession with purity is a thing in Japan, and might be an unfortunate part of why I hardly ever encounter the \\\"netori-gaeshi\\\" that I personally love (the guy takes her back). If a girl was stolen from the hero and he managed to get her back, I\\\'d say that was a pretty darn good read, but too many people over there would throw away anything that suggests a guy should accept a woman who\\\'s known someone besides him.
