However, the trope is about \\\"Something from the past that seems like a huge load of Values Dissonance. It seems laden with, say, a Rose-Tinted Narrative or a Historical Hero or Villain Upgrade. Only... it turns out it was comparatively Fair for Its Day.\\\"

My understanding would be that in order for the trope to be appropriate as it\\\'s currently being used, then, back in 2016, police relations should have been much better than now, so its depiction of good police officers was relatively fair for its time.

However, being a long-time fan of \\\'\\\'Zootopia\\\'\\\' and shepherd of its [=TVTropes page=], I can say things were not rosy back in 2016, and there were many complaints about the movie being too positive even back then. The trope on the YMMV page \\\'\\\'HarsherInHindsight\\\'\\\' does a good job summing up the disconnect between the movie and real life police relations.

But, \\\'\\\'Zootopia\\\'\\\' is a beast fable showing how bias exists at all levels of society and it takes the position that, \\\'\\\'in that particular AU animal society\\\'\\\', the ZPD is generally good and decent.

That tone has rubbed many the wrong way and that is perfectly understandable, but the [=TVTropes=] works page is a list of tropes present in the work and ultimately I think the \\\'\\\'FairForItsDay\\\'\\\' trope really doesn\\\'t apply.

I suggest that it be removed with a reference to this discussion. There are better venues for soapboxing.

(also, came to this page looking for the usual list of \\\"Tropename as they appear in various media broken down by type of media\\\" but it\\\'s absent why? (Because giving examples would require- giving examples? Especially when one gets to Shakespeare, whose puns are stunning, not surprisingly?)
