Interesting. wondering about starting a non-computer-games section, but so far I can only think of one example: the way model railway layouts are usually in perfect and constant scale except for one thing. The dstance between \\\"halts\\\" on a typical layout, if measured in constant HO/OO scale, might be a few hundred yards between a railway station in a town and a representative country village that might in real life be quite a few miles away. This compression of scale is probably necessary - a HO/OO model railway layout that maintained a perfect scale distance between a representation of (for instance) Edgeley station, Stockport, and the nearby town of Macclesfield[[note]]12 miles away[[/note]], would have to be 850 feet long. Which would not easily into the average spare room or garage.
