In the pinch analogy, no matter how minor or even pleasant the original pinches are, you still know you're being pinched. Which brings me back to the modern fanbase being ignorant of the original art/designs. The way that's written, again, is less FranchiseOriginalSin and more AmericansHateTingle.

And what if going for as painful a pinch as possible is preferred? These games aren't made primarily for western audiences, they're first and foremost a Japanese product. Crafted for a worldwide audience, perhaps, but ultimately made for Japanese gamers before anyone else. If they don't regard the designs, then or now, as a flaw, then where's the Sin?
