Alright then, I think Elthina just receives way too much shit for the whole Templar/Mage-thing. Maybe she is theoretically higher on the chantry pole than Meredith, but she knows what kind of person she is. I certainly wouldn't put it past Meredith to have her poisoned, or even just reported to even higher authorities for supposed partiality. And yes, I think that would be considered as 'taking sides', just as would be speaking against the Circle for the escaped violent bloodmages. And despite all her passivity, she was the one who stopped the conflict from being outright bloody. Once she was removed by Anders, the whole thing escalated. Also, I think one should also mention how she shoots down Petrice, or how she advises Sebastian on not to indulge in HeWhoFightsMonsters in her ReasonableAuthorityFigure entry, the whole entry just reads way too biased anf focused on the mage/templar thingl.

As someone who doesnt thonk DarkerAndEdgier applies, i think this is fine. This is an audience reaction and, whether or not you think the games are appreciably darker, there is a very vocal portion of fanbase who ask themselves this question.

Furthermore,

Furthermore, \"it has always been dark\" is just irrelevant here. Even if this installment was way lighter than past installments, this can still apply.
