* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: The Vuvalini, portrayed as the most heroic faction, prey on travelers and, from what little we see of them, seem to have an insular and xenophobic culture with signs of [[DoesNotLikeMen misandry]] (Max [[spoiler:and Nux]] are nearly killed before Furiosa vouches for them while the Five Wives are immediately welcomed with open arms; Furiosa was accepted because her mother was a member of the Vuvalini). Part of this can be chalked up to the necessities of survival in a harsh environment, and it's certainly possible that [[spoiler:absent that pressure, they'll rule the Citadel in a more egalitarian manner than Joe's regime]], but the audience is not actually shown that this is the case; it's simply taken for granted.

I've decided not to add anything under UnfortunateImplications and keep it under Anvilicious, because while I think the filmakers had good intentions, the gender politics in the film are deliberate, even if the message has been potentially muddled.
