Could I add this to BrokenBase regarding Widowmaker? Most people don't have a problem with the character herself outside of the TierInducedScrappy status, but I've seen quite a split on where people want her to end up. Some view her as the female villain of ''Overwatch'', and should stay that way forever due to it being a core part of her identity. Others want her to break free from Talon's brainwashing and [[HeelFaceTurn join the good guys]]. The former argues that doing that would go against or even
to:
Never mind, disregard this.

Could I add this to BrokenBase regarding Widowmaker? Most people don\'t have a problem with the character herself outside of the TierInducedScrappy status, but I\'ve seen quite a split on where people want her to end up. Some view her as the female villain of \'\'Overwatch\'\', and should stay that way forever due to it being a core part of her identity. Others want her to break free from Talon\'s brainwashing and [[HeelFaceTurn join the good guys]]. The former argues that doing that would go against or even \"ruin\" her character, and that she should remain as she is as it is so iconic to her, while the latter group has made the argument that it would make for an interesting character arc and having her remain as Talon\'s brainwashed operative would hold too much to StatusQuoIsGod and that they would [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot waste a perfectly good plot]].

I know we don\'t objectively trope future events that haven\'t happened yet, but I\'ve seen this divide as an audience reaction to where they \'\'want\'\' a character to end up being, and arguments have ensued because of it so I think it counts as a BrokenBase over that matter. The line is kind of blurred so I\'m asking here. Here\'s what the entry will look like (I\'ll post any changes I make before adding):

* While most have no problem with Widowmaker (outside of her [[TierInducedScrappy tier status]]), citing her frightening effectiveness as a villain, her tragic and sympathetic backstory involving her being an innocent who was brainwashed against her will into being what she\'s become, and that EvilIsSexy, there is a fairly vocal divide as to where they want the female villain of the series to end up. Namely, some want her to remain as a villain forever, while others want to see her break free from Talon\'s clutches. The former argues that being a depraved FemmeFatale is the core part of her identity and it should stay that way, it would be \"lame\" or \"cliche\" if she suddenly became good and went on a redemption story, and that there are already so few villains that losing one would be bad for the dynamics. The latter argues that it would be an extremely interesting character arc for her to go against Talon and [[RedemptionQuest redeem herself of her many atrocities]], that having her stay a villain forever would invoke StatusQuoIsGod, and that of all the villains, she is the one who deserves redemption the most being that she didn\'t \'\'choose\'\' to be evil. There\'s also a third party who point out that an unbrainwashed Amélie would possibly be too [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone traumatized for what she did]] that she might not be able to help out anyone. Where she truly \'\'does\'\' end up is anyone\'s guess at this point, though either way \'\'someone\'\' isn\'t going to be pleased with the result.
