I just removed a link (under the Hero-Tracking trope) to a video of a Nimitz-class supercarrier doing a series of hard turns. While fun, the video isn\'t even remotely similar to the trope - the ship doesn\'t suddenly stop, drift sideways, or otherwise conduct any sort of motion other than heeling into a turn.
Large ships can\'t \"drift\" or slalom. The hull form presents too much lateral resistance to even present the appearance of drifting. All that\'s happening in the video is the wake from the hard turn is shown; what\'s missing is perspective that the \"S\" pattern of the hard turns happen over a dozen miles or more and thus, if looked at from the top, really doesn\'t look much more than a mild wobble.
The video was just Natter, and not relevant.
