Oh hey, 2e has been released. So anyone has any idea of whether its actually better than 1e?

so, having read 1e and played 2e. 2e is so, so, SO much cleaner on sooooo many things.
a lot of bloat has been cut out and things have been streamlined to make play easier. Choosing your starting skills no longer requires a calculator and running math. it's anecdotal as hell, but it feels much smoother than the first edition managed.
It's eclipse phase, so it's clunky, but once you figure it out it flows fairly well! A lot of edge case skills got consolidated (beams, railguns, and firearms are all just Guns, now) for obvious gameplay reasons. It fucking sucked that you could end up without the handful of weapons you were any good with easily.

They don't need to be human-sized. And they've already enormous human-sized crab pods, anyway.
