I don't mean to sound like a hipster, but i liked them before they were cool. No implied superiority
I have Platypus on CD.
Anyway, for Neccy (and anyone else interested) try the "play" button instead of downloading, it'll put out a pop-up player and play the song you clicked on.
WHY? is better than Flobots, though.

If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comI like hip hop of the instrument variety but for some reason can't stand rapping. Unless it's nerdcore. :P
Nerdcore is hilarious.
Hawking or Lars?
If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comThat was MC Lars' "Mr. Raven"
Love that song.
Nerdcore reminds me of Horse the Band, who I really like. Don't know if any of you fellows would.
And now I'm listening to Flobots. They just came up on my shuffle. Weee.

"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Love that song.
Lars? Better than Hawking? Heresy!
I like some of Lars' more ska-tinged stuff.
@Rapping; you might not be listening to the right people, i recommend Aesop Rock, MF DOOM, or Doseone.
If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comOh, on Platypus: While I don't have the whole EP, I don't think, I've heard some of the songs from it. Don't think I like "Jetpack" much.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Unremarkable, just saying that that's one of the few bands i have "Original Fan" status for, i picked up Platypus in the bargain bin of a record store, among the lounge music.
If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comI really like breakdowns in my post-hardcore. Take
I hope to only say this once: I like screaming.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Screaming is the one thing i dislike about metal/hardcore/hard rock/genres that have it.
Which is why my metal interest is limited to instrumental bands.
If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comHave you heard of Scale the Summit, Daze? They're from Houston *, and they're an instrumental band. I really really like them. Don't think they're very big yet. I've seen them before, with Protest the Hero and The Number Twelve Looks Like You, and I hope to see them again when they come with Between the Buried and Me in January.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."I will check that out momentarily.
Now listening to their song "Dunes" via You Tube.

If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comNot all metal bands "scream" (or growl). Dream Theater is a good metal band. So is Sonata Arctica. Both have very clean vocals. :D
http://www.last.fm/user/BlueGhost60I'm interested in starting to listen to Dream Theater. Could somebody give me a list of songs that would work as a good primer?
Now i didn't know that.
I thought Dream Theater were prog though?
Dream Theater is progressive metal, not just prog.
A good list of their songs for beginners: Pull Me Under, These Walls, Fatal Tragedy, As I Am, Metropolis, Part 1: The Miracle and The Sleeper.
@Lucky Revenant: Are you British? All the British call them Dream Theatre, when in fact it's Dream Theater. D:

http://www.last.fm/user/BlueGhost60I have quite an interesting playlist for this evening.
Neccy: Did my album work for you yet?
If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comI got one of the songs, something with bees. It was weird, but good. :3
http://www.last.fm/user/BlueGhost60A Swarm of Glass Bees. My first song that exists. (there are other ones that don't)
Anyway @Scale The Summit, "Dunes" is pretty good.
And now for Dream Theater.

If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comNo, I'm not British *, I just prefer spelling things that way. I'll try to remember for Dream Theater though, since that's like actually their name.
"Dunes" is pretty good. Can't remember the name of the song I like most from them, since I just listen to the whole album at a time...
There's this band called I See Stars that I find myself really liking, even though I don't think they're that great.

"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Don't feel bad, i spell it "theatre" too, dunno why.
Speaking of England, is anyone here familiar with Burial?
edited 17th Nov '09 4:03:27 PM by El The Daze
If you want me, i am still here. ElTheDaze@yahoo.comI'm familiar with Burial. Heard his album Untrue, wasn't impressed.
http://www.last.fm/user/BlueGhost60Doublepost?
Listening to "Pull Me Under" right now, and i can't understand why people complain about DT's Singer (alot of them do) he has a good voice.
Not growly enough for metalheads and not weird enough for prog fans maybe? I just don't get the complaint.
edit: Really? Now, i liked what i heard of Untrue, oh well, we were bound to disagree on something eventually.
