Shin Megami Tensei Series

The livestream going over many of Vengeance's QOL features. Some of them I like the sound of, like purchaseable Essences and a Miracle that improves the fusion accident rate!, but oh boy I'm feeling like a Hard mode playthrough is going to be mandatory because I absolutely do not trust Atlus to properly balance all of these new perks! (inb4 that's what Godborn mode is for)

I'm not. Partly because I've no idea who that is and partly because there is precedent for gaps even for mainstream groups (for example. It took until SJR for Zeus appear in mainline and Apollo is still a no-show in recent games. Other examples being some of the Goetics not being feature at all [and those that do getting scant appearances outside of certain cases], the omission of iconic beasts like sleipnir, and the fact that the Famed category doesn't have Hercules AFAIK)

Wasn’t purchasable Essences in the base game? I know for a fact the skeleton guy sold essences for some demons like Quetzalcoatl and Cait Sith, for example.

Here’s the passives that weren’t translated:

Phoenix: "Conflagration" - When in the active party, increases damage given when exploiting a fire weakness for all allies

Moloch: "Scorching King of Tears" - When in the active party, all ally fire skills have a chance to crit.

Surt: "Flame Amplification" - When in the active party, increase Fire Attribute skill potential for allies with a lower skill potential so that it is equal to Surt's

Matador: "One Hit Kill" - When hitting the target with a critical hit, there is a chance to instantly kill the target.

Neko Shogun: "Nyan 2 Blow" - When there is another demon in your active party with "Nyan 2 Blow", increase damage dealt.

Thoth: "Trick" - When in the active party, all allies' chance-based Unique Skills are easier to trigger.

Pazuzu: "Spreading Calamity" - When in the active party, weakness-exploiting attacks against status-afflicted enemies will do increased damage.

Koropokkuru: "In search of cold skies" - When in the active party, increases damage given when exploiting a ice weakness for all allies

Koropokkuru is a name I'm only familiar with because of Shaman King.

So Magatsuhi Demons drop Incense if you manage to beat them. I was always kind of curious about if they provided some sort of special reward, given they're supposed to be rather tough enemies to take on.

Demi-fiend as a recruitable guest character sounds pretty neat. I wonder if he'll be one of those "definitely bring this guy to the new superboss" types.

Also good to know that there will be a Miracle that greatly increases the chances of fusion accidents for those accident-only demons. I still think that the accident-only demons of IV were a bigger hassle than the 1/256 Fiends, because those accident-only demons weren't guaranteed even if you got an accident.

I actually sort of unironically love how if you start the Triangulum Arc fresh the game goes, "Okay, now build a viable Lv. 20s team from scratch. Fuck you." Like of course that's something it would pull!

The voting for your favorite demon poll reveals Masakado and Samael as expected. however it excludes the more spoilery demons ala Khonsu-Ra, Fallen Abdiel, etc.

Tomorrow is, I think, Gogmagog. Either that or Albion, but he looks more like the former.

It's definitely Gogmagog. Albion's head is a different shape, and Albion also carries a club.

Hopefully we get stronger Jirae. I saw in Megaten wiki the strongest Jirae in the base game is a level 35 Narcissus??

Jirae is one of those races that's never been given a lot of endgame love. At the very least they should bring back demons like Muspell and Tlaltecuhtli, and there are a few others that could be transferred over to Jirae without much issue

Jirae are supposed to be land spirits so you could make all sorts of nature spirits, harvest gods and the like work. Here's hoping they fill out the ranks somewhat.

Just a heads up everyone; the OG SMTV and its DLCs will be delisted before the release of Vengeance

Damn. I still haven't downloaded all the DLC yet. I got caught up in other things and my money kept getting slurped up by outside forces.

I suppose I should hop to it. I still want to finish the original game before Vengeance comes on the scene, especially since it's not clear if you can upgrade or not.

If you can, I'll feel stupid, but I'd rather not take chances.
