Okay, eight hours of sleep and a oil tanker worth of coffee and I'm good. I may add a few more things as i think of them but this is the base.

Okay, this is a world I'm working on and I'm looking for ideas. Take the world as we know it and rotate the earth so that the North Pole rests on what is currently Indonesia. This would put the South Pole Ether in Colombia or Brazil, possibly Venezuela or Peru as the borders are fairly close in relative terms. Due to this, there is no concept of Old World/New World and the most powerful nation in the world is the Arctic Confederation, a collection of 21 states that ring the Arctic Ocean and control almost all landmass north of 60N(in terms for our real globe.)

New creatures now roam the world. Two meter long (most of it leg,) six limbed (four forearms,) "Ghouls" are now the Alpha predator throughout most of North America. “Your typical Greater Grey Ghoul stands around two too two and a half meters tall, can jump in excess of ten meters and can easily outpace your average human. With a vision range that extends into the infrared range and a natural low-power optical zoom they’re nearly impossible to hide from. They have four forelimbs which can be controlled independently of one and other, each strong enough to rip your arm off. Their hearts are little more than a vestigial chunk of muscle, having long ago been rendered obsolete by the evolution of a muscled circulatory system; which happens to be self-sealing by the way… In addition to regular lungs they also have a series of six smaller lungs that line their sides making it impossible to strangle one. And to top it off their bones are reinforced with carbon fiber. It takes around three to five rounds to kill one and there’s a big difference between killing one and dropping one.”

Eurasia's top predator is now the "Goblin," (these are currently only loosely defined) short, stocky creatures, with brown leathery skin. They are crude tool makes who's overall "higher intelligence" is tied to the number of members in their semi-nomadic "tribes," capable of producing the crudest forms of firearms when roughly four-hundred strong.

Humanity has been forced to deal with these and other natural enemies and disasters (Hyper-canes and increased numbers of tornadoes through the "new" tornado ally.) This has led to the development (or at least implementation) of technology at a much faster rate resulting in personal HUDs, electric cars powered by atomic Stirling engines, Retinal Scanning Display "T Vs" are starting to hit the market. There's even a ring of high speed magnetic trains that loops around the Arctic Confederation. With electronics becoming so readily available, attention is turned to trying to replace them with simpler, more durable clockwork/machinery adding a "steampunk" undertone. Firearms are still roughly "modern" (a loos term if there ever was one) but are mostly delayed actions rather than gas operated. Human evolution has also been changed. Roughly one in one hundred humans is what is commonly known as a "Mage." These people are capable of utilizing "strange/alternative physics" allowing them to use magic-like abilities. "Week" mages are limited to using their own bodies as sources of energy, or dumping grounds for excess energy, while stronger mages can use the environment or (at least in theory) tap into the power of the atom. This is a "semi-random condition with reliance on genetic predisposition." The use of "magic" carries obvious risk driving most people who can use it, to simply ignore it most of the time. Even so, this supposed "obvious genetic superiority" causes a great deal of stress between the magic users and normal" people. The location that sees possibly the worst of this social stress is the Arctic Confederacy. Separated into two culturally distinctive regions; the Coastal Ring and the Outlands. The Coastal Ring is marked by monetary prosperity and advanced technology, Few natural disasters other than hyper/hurricanes ever hit this part of the nation and the society tends to lean towards the complacent. Mages are held in high esteem and tend to be found in the upper echelons of society. The Outlands, which physically separates the Coastal Ring from the rest of the world, act as the nations first line of defense against foreign invasion as well as takes the brunt of most of what the world throws at the confederacy such as Tornado Ally and most of the Confederations Ghoul, Goblin and Dire Wolf populations. Society here tends to be pragmatic and logical out of shear necessity. Magic is looked upon as useful but limited and those who can use it are seen as equals, albeit gifted ones. Weapons are common sights as they are needed to daily with daily problems and the only real restrictions (or at least the only ones paid attention to) are the federal laws pertaining to automatic firearms and explosives.
