G'day - got an armor smith in town that needs approval. He might be heading to the tavern to strike up some business conversation with the barkeep, if you all agree to having a (mostly) non-combatant in the party.

I welcome any character with open arms and a necromantic spell at the ready.

Well, except paladins. They just get the necromantic spell.

Rosa will just love you. Smiths are LOADED!

Speaking of loaded, Rosa is going to be highly disappointed to find that Gin is broke.

This particular smith also knows people, and can possibly garner people he likes a discount for certain services.

But yes. He's more or less loaded.

So, on the topic of how spells work...

I'm sort of aiming for Saye to have the spellcasting approach of the final fantasy white mage class, mostly buffs, debuffs, status ailments, and healing spells. The rational would be screwing with the amount of "order" in the system, for isntance, a healing spell would restore a body to equilibrium, and a hold spell would overorder something, freezing it in place. I was planning on yoinking the ff white mages spells for Saye's spell list, maybe with a couple made up. I'd like to start him with Cure, Hold, Protect, Shell, and Bravery. Would this work?

I'm not following - If my crappy memory of AD&D 3rd edition serves, you have to... memorize a certain number of spells per day, and once cast, you can't cast that spell again. I always wondered why that rule was in place, actually. I think I played a wizard like, all of one time.

I so much liked Palladium's system better. Cast it as long as you have PPE (I think it was PPE, anyway) to do it with.

How magic works in this world was never really discussed. I'm offering a suggestion as to how my character's spells would work fluff wise. I don't think the DM has instituted a combat system anyway, so I haven't really concerned myself with the game mechanics.

Edit: my previous post was what I would like my character to be able to do. I'm checking to see whether those abilities would be acceptable.

Hmmm, good point - how would we adjudicate combat...?

Hmm...Combat will be the basic RP style. Go until one player concedes he loses. If fighting NPCs, I'll control them. As far as magick, I believe in signups I mentioned Eragon style. Do it as many times as you want, but it uses the amount of energy it would normally take you to do without magick. Basically a fluff explanation for mana. Any other suggestions?

Also, our first quest has arrived! Rosa'll be taking that ring if she comes back inside. Finger or not.

Clearly Dala is simply a normal druid. Definitely not a fallen paladin that decided to take up necromancy. Because that would be silly.

Yes, it does have fantastic racism, just not very prevalently. Some people are bigots, most are perfectly fine with eachother.

Yes, yes we are. And some of you may be getting your hands on some merridium at the end of this bit of plot. Our lucky little blacksmith may have some fun later!
