You simply edit the page that is Tropes Of Legend...or the way that's written in italian.

That would be Trope Leggendari. Ok, I've started translating, but it will still need the flag icon on the main Tropes Of Legend page. How do I do that?

There, I fixed it. But for the indexing, you'll have to remove the links to English versions of the Tropes so they're not placed on the Italian index. It's pretty messed up, but it works, at least.

I'm getting confused... I believed the links to the English version of the tropes were necessary... and I never really understood this index thing anyway... Oh, thanks for the flag icon, I really appreciate it.

You know what? It'd be hilarious to have some tropes named "Il Buono" and "Il Brutto" in the Italian version.

Well, that is enterely possible, depending on what are their english main pages that you're referring to.

Hmm, Il Brutto would be a good equivalent of Gonk, and Il Buono... Hmmm... I guess we could find some heroic archetype to fit. Nice Guy maybe?

We already have IL Cattivo (the Bad) so the references to The Good The Bad And The Ugly are completely possible. And that's awesome. Even if Il Buono is not a "perfect" translation for The Nice Guy and can be confused with the Good Guy (is there a trope for that?) but , you know, we can tweak things a bit. It's for the best, after all

Yay! Hungarian! No, I can't help with it, sorry, since I don't speak or read it at all, but I like seeing new language flags show up.

So, we don't have a Dutch translation in progress, do we?

For the Italian translation, is there a reason that Il Buono won't work for The Hero?

That probably wouldn't work. And would screw up the Five-Man Band. (Can the Hero not be good BTW?) Il Buono isn't that good at being an hero, anyway. Too morally grey. Sometimes I wonder why he's called Il Buono. I know it's relative, but stil...

Please help somebody 'cause now I'm totally confused. Question is: How to correct misspelled translated trope names?

I've just created the Hungarian version of Pragmatic Adaptation. I wanted to call it Pragmatikus Adaptacio. I created the Hungarian version, put the source line on the bottom of the page and saved. After that I realized, that I misspelled the hungarian version - I left out the last 'i'. I cleared the first version, removed the source line and all the text, and put it into the brand new, correctly spelled version. Now those language flags just don't work. The Hungarian flag above the English trope leads to the first, misspelled article and there is no English flag above the corrected one, though now it's the only Hungarian trope that links Pragmatic Adaptation as a source.

How could I fix this issue (and others of this kind in the future)?

To get rid of a page with a misspelled name, copy all the contents over to a page with the correct name, correct any wicks (links to the misspelled name form other wiki pages) and then add the Misspelled page to the Cutlist, making sure to include the Hu/ namespace. In the "reason to cut" simply put "Misspelled, all content moved to correctly spelled page."

I'm not sure how to fix the flag issue.

And by the way, you're doing incredible work on this. Here's hoping you get some collaborators.

Please, Eddie, or someone who already done this before, answer this simple question:

How can I change the translated name of a translated trope and maintain the link to the English origial (and back)?

OR:

How can I remove the links between an English trope and a translated one (on both sides).

We're at the very beginning of our Hungarian translation and new ideas for trope names arise from time-to time. I just can't remove those links from the first versions and make new links to the new one. Any ideas?

And another thing: Hungarian is not in the list of the drop-down menu of Recent Changes. Would someone add it to the list please.

I think I have a similar issue, but concerning redirects. I translated a page (Maturity Is Serious Business) in italian but I forgot to add the It/ to the name of the trope before putting the En source and redirecting the non punctuated version to it (accents are a pain).

After having found the mistake I created a new page, put the source (with the flag now yay) but the old page is still there. So now there is the English Flag, the Italian one and the symbol for the main page (which is the first I translated) that is now blank. I posted it in the Cut List to no avail. And the old unpunctuated title still redirect to it. I really hope there is a way to fix this... i can circumvent the redirect problem (I just kink to the page) but the main icon with the blank page really annoys me.

Apparently language flags can't be removed by removing the source line, emptying the article entirely, or by putting it on Cutlist (or by doing literally anything). I'd love to hear some official thoughts from the admins on this issue. I posted it to Tech Wishlist forum too. Hopefully Eddie will come up with some solution.

I've been trying to tape together some sparse Portuguese translated pages i found around the site before trying to actually endeavour into going off translating whatever i get my hands on... It seems there was a somewhat discontinued effort in translations before so i tried to link them off and put them into the apropriate places and try to adapt some to the pages to the expected "standard". Sigh, if i'm messing up on that please correct me :-/ Also if anyone finds (by chance) a page already translated feel free to dump it onto the semi index IndicePrincipalDoTropes.

Can Italian be added on the "look for" menu on Recent Changes, please? It would be really helpful... you know, the whole "finding and correcting tropers who aren't good with the markup yet". And I think the other translation projects would like the same for their languages... we all have more articles than Esperanto, you know!

Excuse me if this is not the right place to ask. I tried on Ask The Troper but nobody answered.

Even though I am not fluent in Tagalog, I am interested in translating pages into that language. All I have to know what Trope means in Tagalog, translate the homepage, and get the flag icon set up.
