Trapped in Another World (and sometimes Summon Everyman Hero.) But next time, use You Know That Show.

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulAh, sorry, I wasn't entirely sure where this one belonged, but that seemed to be more about locating stories or shows that aren't entirely clear, not finding the names of a trope that doesn't seem clear.
Sorry—I went into automatic again. Should have said Lost And Found.

Now I know where to put such questions.

Just a word of warning, the Thomas Covenant books are kind of a Deconstruction of this trope, so you may be in for some nasty surprises ahead.
I just started reading Lord Foul's Bane a couple of days ago, and it occurs to me that the bare structure of the first few chapters seems familiar. (Not in a worn-out sort of way, but familiar.)
Take man isolated and disenchanted with the mundane world, suddenly and (to him) inexplicably drop him into Fantasy Land X, follow his adventures as he (often, but not always) saves this world from horrible danger.
I'm more concerned with the first few steps. I don't know if this quite qualifies as a "trope," but does it have a name? Other examples . . . Magic Kingdom For Sale—-Sold! (Terrible, terrible book. Brooks can't decide if he's writing parody or straight.) I'm sure I could think of more, but that's all I've got right now.
So, who can help me out here?
