Nice. I only got Beyond Good And Evil recently, And Double H is shaping up to be one of my favourite characters. I recognised him easily.
Never actually shown anything I've drawn on this forum. Might as well: This is some fanart◊ I drew of a certain game I'm a fan of. took me a long time to get the digital colouring right, which is something I've been trying to improve over the past couple days. this was done in Paint shop pro. Originally this peice was lovingly coloured in with crayons◊.

I don't remember Iji having a drill.
It's the CFIS. I checked the shape to try and see how it would look in 3D.
Nice. I still need to actually get around to playing Iji, since I've more or less told myself "Cave Story will come with the Wii Ware release." It's not like I don't have the time for it now.
And every art supply box needs crayons. Always.

Iji only ever holds the one weapon, implying that all the weapons she picks up are merely giving her standard weapon a new capability. There are in-game messages which back up this idea too.
That little tooth is just so goddamn cute, my Lovely Mad Assistant!
IT'S A SNAKE! A SNAAAAAAKE!!!◊
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeThat's grand! the background is good too, the way the grass squashes beneath it, and around the base of the tree.
yeah.. I noticed she only ever held the one weapon. never read that log though- but thought it would be cool to draw her holding several upgrades. Ah... I'll pretend its creative lisence.
Ooh, Iji fanart!
Well, I do dream up abstract stuff occasionally because it expresses an idea or just somehow looks cool.
Like, I've been trying think up interesting ways to work with the infinity symbol, for a story I'm coming up with.
Also, something just look really cool for magic spell animations and other attacks in RP Gs. (You can tell I'm a gamer, eh?) Like...1:22 in this video. "Skygate". That just LOOKS awesome.
Or how about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByXzyI8AUAw&feature=related <— a magnificent display of high-level spells. Just watch up to the end of the Zemus fight if you don't want (much) spoilers. Holy (also called White) has just an awesome animation—doubly so (almost literally) if you cast it on a target with Wall status (so that it bounces off the wall and then re-animates toward the someone else).
As for why I do non-abstract art, that's because I really want to be able to make characters express things or show them doing certain things that no other artists have done (or few have). For example, portraying Asuka from Evangelion with a angry, stern, fiery look is something that you don't see very often—in fanart, she's usually smiling, or in a complete rage. I'd like to be able to draw her with that expression.
EDIT: Deleted. I'm not even going to hint that I drew something like that.
So, how many of you guys have refs for your OCs?

Well, the first picture I had posted was of my OC Eddy Marshall, a sociopathic bum with a convection-defying heat sword who works as a professional hero.
Aside from that, all I really have uploaded is this doodle I did while not paying attention in class: [1]
From left to right, the characters are Miijhal, Miria, Unnamed Mechanic Guy, and Also Unnamed Captain Guy. They're all from an idea I had for what is basically a Slice of Life sci-fi story.

Meat: What's an OC?
Original Character.
Oh.
Then yes, I do. At least, at this point in my creative development, it's hard for me to come up with an interesting, "three-dimensional" (characterization-wise) character by myself. I usually end up drawing inspiration from some sort of patchwork combination of traits of several existing characters, on which the character concept (and thus appearance) are based.
Hey, an art thread.
I would sincerely like to post some of my things here but I have two problems. First, some of my pieces tend to be larger than my scanner. This would not be a problem if I had access to a camera. Second, I have a tendency to flip out when anyone sees my art. This is probably a result of a low self-esteem and my paranoia. I have a very strong urge to delete this post...
Anyways, with the summer quickly approaching I may have some time to post some things. They are of a very poor quality, but it might be fun. I have wanted to try at designing a card deck for quite some time now.
I need to stay away from Animesque style drawing because as much as I love the style, it works very poorly for me.

I've always prefered the term "fancharacter." "Original character" makes me think that they're... well, original. Part of their own world. Not connected to the canon in anyway.
I do have them, but I haven't drawn any in a while, and they're largely fairly uninteresting to anybody but me.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaOh, you mean original character in someone else's universe...
Oh, I thought you meant original characters within our own universe(s).
Sorry, I'm not a fanfic person.

Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeDoes that label in the right corner of #1 say "WARNING! Do not microwave ink"? That image, my good sir, is crazy awesome.
Yes, it does. Welcome to my mind, if you have no already been too welcomed to it already.
Some writing....Fancharacter? I don't have any fancharacters. I mean Original Character, as in yours, yours and only yours.
GMH, "OC" can refer to either. I personally prefer to use it exclusively for completely original stuff, but I do accept the term when used for original characters in fan works. (Usually. A fan Jonas Quinn will bug me though.)
Yes it is! Albiet very stylistically warped; I think I was subconsciously trying to ape Awkward Zombie's style there. He's crazy hard to draw even remotely on-model, so I was trying to figure out a stylized version I liked.
This is what I settled on◊, which has the same pose but looks different. His hair's too big, but I can live.
Also, while uploading to Photobucket, I found this◊ black-and-white dragon lineart... thing.
