It'd be darkly humorous if the reason the Roger Pirates laughed at what they discovered at Laugh Tale was because it told them about this exact problem.
In light of that, their laughter could be less genuinely joyful and more "Ha ha...we're all fucked" laughter.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI'm pretty sure that the current Vegapunk revelation is not what is on Laugh Tale. Or at least that's not the only revelation. Luffy was willing to quit the journey if Rayleigh spoiled it for him. The reason for the Roger Pirates laughing will only be revealed when the Straw Hats reach Laugh Tale, not before.
Vegapunk notes that what he has is incomplete, so Robin and the crew will only find out the whole story once they make it to Laugh Tale.
Wake me up at your own risk.My money remains on Laugh Tale having a giant drain plug only a user of the Nika fruit can pull to drain the excess water.
My more serious theory is whatever made Roger laugh will actually infuriate Luffy. A lot's been made of how similar they are, so I like the idea that the critical moment will show their differences.
Also, I feel like this reaction sequence might be our last chance to see Kuro, Krieg, Axe-Hand Morgan, Foxy, and Gin (if he's still alive) again.

Another interesting reveal is that
the rising sea level is not a natural occurrence. It's apparently a consequence of the use of the Mother Flame to fire the kill sat weapon. Which means Vegapunk's rediscovery of the Mother Flame (remember that most of his inventions are really him reverse engineering Lost Technology) may have accelerated the global flooding.
No wonder he thinks of himself as a sinner.
It also raises the question of wth was going on back in the Void Century. How often did they fire the damn thing to raise sea levels so high in the first place?

Disgusted, but not surprisedIndeed, if these are things that AREN'T part of the Real Poneglyphs... What the hell IS!?
I'll point out again that the New Fishmen Pirates would have found this whole message absolutely hilarious. They'd take it as proof that Fishmen really are superior and the chosen people to inherit the world. If the situation worsens, the humans they hated so much are all going to drown no matter what.

Disgusted, but not surprisedForget the New Fishman Pirates, show me Arlong's reaction to this broadcast!
I wonder if they're hearing about it in prison. We know Doflamingo is.
OTOH, I wouldn't be surprised if this disaster has some negative consequences for Fishmen too.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAfter the fall of the Beast Pirates, Wano Country would have their Transponder Snails right? So they should also be hearing this message, right? Or they could be, anyway.... I'm not being stupid, am I? People from Wano haven't already been shown listening and I just forgot?
Speaking of Wano, maybe its walls aren't just meant to keep out invaders but to help protect it from rising sea levels.
Disgusted, but not surprised...I don't think they've been shown listening. I think the last time we checked in with Wano was when the global earthquake happened and the sea levels rose, where we saw Momonosuke watching over as the ground shook. They might be listening, they might not be. That is, assuming Yamato's cover story isn't happening RIGHT NOW, in which case they're probably not.

I gotta say, Saturn killing the Den Den mushi looks half funny half disturbing. Those poor snails...
Secret SignatureRandom thought: anyone else think itโs possible that the Revolutionaries were originally intended as an antagonist faction, but were changed to be entirely heroic when Oda realized there were too many endgame villains already? I feel like that would fit well with how Dragon was portrayed as a sinister figure with vague goals pre-timeskip, as well as with the fact that the World Governmentโs portrayal has over time gone from โdark grayโ to โpitch black with a few good applesโ
No. I do think Oda maybe intended the Revolutionaries to occasionally resort to questionable means, but I don't think they were ever going to be any sort of antagonist.
That comment almost made me joke about how Dragon and his pals have done nothing for almost 20 years... but then realized in universe it HAS NOT been anywhere near that long. One Piece lasting so long has really skewed Audiences perception of how much happened in such little time.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Yeah, the Revolutionary Army literally attacked Marijoa, like, a month ago.
Oh WOW. That's a very good example. That so long IRL I forgot.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Earlier in Egghead, it was revealed that the issues with CP agents investigating the island and disappearing goes back to before the Return to Sabaody arc, right? I forget how exactly its phrased, but I think that gave us a general time frame for Post-Time Skip so far, didn't it? (I'm noticing that for some reason, I'm really bad at remembering time frames and sequence this arc. I don't know why)
In any case, point being, post time skip One Piece has happened over a VERY short time. With the exception of Wano, I don't think the Straw Hats have stayed anywhere more then three or four days. If we allow for VERY generous travel times... It can't have been more then three months, four tops, right?
York contacted the Elders 3 months ago, but it wasn't stated when that was in relation to the Straw Hats returning.
Hmm. I could've sworn hearing something about that, but maybe that was just some chapter reviewers trying to do the math.
x8
To chime in on the role of the Revolutionary Army, if a pivot was being made, it wasn't because of Oda realizing there were "too many antagonistic figures", we have been having villain buffets lately, yet he's been flexing, no worse for wear. Assuming that Revolutionaries being wholly heroic wasn't the game plan from the word go (which I highly doubt), it would probably have been more from how... vicious the World Government was becoming. With how shockingly vile they were revealing themselves to be, literally anyone would look better by contrast... and, knowing that, I could see why an author would retool a group as strictly forces for good instead.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...
Also, this chapter showed that Guard Point Chopper blocking Saturn wasn't a fluke as he tanks a bunch more stabs with mild discomfort and then is totally fine afterward. Guard Point is OP, y'all.
