The TV Tropes Forum RPG zone is divided into 3 different zones, normal RPs usually have a thread in each of these.

  • Role Playing Singups: The first place to go in order to join a game or start your own. In this place the GMs post the basic settings, story and rules of the RPs and the players post their own characters and wait for approval to start posting in the game proper.
  • Role Playing Discussion: Where all the OC talk goes, like discussing character actions and a place to ask questions.
  • Role Playing: This zone is where the actual Role Playing takes place.

Please do refer to the Role Playing Rules for the guidelines on which this section of the Forum operates. Different R Ps have their own rules, though the ones outlined in the Role Playing Rules thread cover the basics of what is enforced here.

@Dr No Puma: I feel interested enough to at least consider it after knowing more. You say, "fantasy version of The Wild West where all sorts of species live together", would this also include other fantasy elements like magic and monsters?

[up]Yes. See also We Are All Pirates' Revenge. In threads like these, we are rarely concerned with historical accuracy, and more with being creative and having fun with a certain genre.

I was thinking about hosting an RP where Rung (shown below) tries to interview and help other tropers' avatars with any psychological problems they may have to the best of his ability.

Anyone interested?

[up]That sounds pretty fun.

Do we have a lot of superhero threads here? I see some "Superhero Academy" threads, but are there any going on now that are more traditional superhero adventure stuff?

I am thinking about starting an episodic thread inspired by The Flash (2014) (but not exactly a fanfic thread - there won't be any direct references to the show) where we are superheroes who team up to fight a different villain in each episode, or "issue."

I see a few video game-themed roleplays, like Fire Emblem Tropera or various fighting games. Has anyone done one based on Warriors-franchise gameplay? If not, would there be any interest in starting one?

[up][up][up]That sounds interesting! I'll think about joining.

I'm working on an idea I had for a fantasy roleplay set in Grim Up North. I don't have an exact story or goal for the thread yet, but it would be similar to Bluethorn's thread ITT: We're Animals in a Post-Apocalyptic Town, although it wouldn't just be limited to animals. You could be any species as long as it fits a wintery setting. Also, Polar Bears and Penguins is allowed.

Would anyone be interested in joining this?

Um, question? I was reading through the Role Playing Rules because I want to start a Danganronpa Killing Game RP, and the first rule made me question something.

Would playing Monokuma count as Godmodding? Because one of the rules of a Danganronpa game is “The Headmaster (in most cases, Monokuma) cannot be harmed. Anyone who tries to harm the the Headmaster will be punished (either via death or maiming).”

From what I’ve read, an example of Godmodding is playing an invincible character. At least until the end of the game, Monokuma is pretty much invincible. Another example of Godmodding is not giving other players a chance to respond to your actions. In the two canon examples of characters trying to harm Monokuma (not stating names because spoilers), they were killed almost immediately.

To summarise, would playing the role of Monokuma count as Godmodding? I hope this fits here.

The idea of godmodding is that it's trying to take over the RP by making your character super-special-awesome and better than everyone else. It's not a blanket "nobody is allowed to be powerful". Killing games having a host is just kinda how they work.

@Mayu Is Best Girl 41: If you're the GM running the game and also playing as Monokuma, then yes, that would be allowed. The GM is technically exempt from the "no godmodding" rule. (Though it is generally considered bad practice to do stuff like killing off player characters left and right without giving them any kind of chance; though a game where the point is a lot of people are going to die could itself be an exception to that.)

I'm putting the winter-themed ITT aside for now. Instead, I have a pitch for a new ITT that is kind of a spiritual successor to We Are All Pirates' Revenge and the previous monster-themed ITTs.

In this thread, we are a ragtag bunch of monsters in an Überwald setting. For years, we and our monster brethren have been hunted by humans. But one day, the king gathers us together and sends us on a quest to collect the Crystal Bats, ten magical artifacts that are scattered around the land. If we find them all and bring them to the king, he promises to set us free and ban monster hunting forever. But until then, there will be monster hunters, rival monsters, and other obstacles in our way.

Players will create a monster as their main character. They can join the game at any time. Players can also create other monsters or monster hunters as NPCs. In the Pirates thread, most of the player characters had their own personal Big Bad threatening them, and by association, the rest of the crew. We planned out when each villain would appear in the thread. I want to do something similar here.

I'm making a roleplay where it's a pizzeria run by five aspiring heroes who need to make money for weapons and armor. Just that. It most definitely won't not escalate into something very different spanning multiple universes and star many villains. It's a fantasy one too. And it's an RPG Mechanics 'Verse.

This thread has been a lot less active than I thought it would be... nevertheless, I have another pitch that I am seriously interested in starting.

Tentative name is Villain Town. In this thread, each player character is the Big Bad of a different genre of fiction. (I think most of us would want to create original characters. I'm not sure if I should allow pre-existing villains from pop culture.) You can be anything from a comic book supervillain, to a Disneyesque villain, to a slasher. You can also have one or two of your character's henchmen as NPCs, if you want.

The game takes place in the titular Villain Town, a place where every villain is teleported to when they die, or otherwise have their plans foiled (Kind of like Spider-Man: No Way Home.) I don't know what exactly is going to keep the villains from killing each other or destroying the town. I'm still figuring things out.

Anyway, the thread will have an episodic structure wherein our characters will get into strange adventures together. Some episodes will be more mundane, while others will have a more epic scale.

Hey, so I have my own Wanda Vision-inspired thing.

It’s basically your character is actually a person from the real world stuck in an animated sitcom, and you basically have to figure out a way to escape!

Although your first few adventures will be normal, it won’t be until you find some clues revealing your true identity that things really get going!

There also may or may not be an interdimensional entity.

It’s called Tropestown: Escape from Sitcom!

TL;DR: Think a darker version of Tropers: The Series.

I have this idea for a doomsday-themed RP where a group of everyday people have to come together and somehow prevent an apocalyptic scenario through wacky or absurd ways against an evil organization with their regular abilities.

Maybe call it something like The Everydays.

I’m sorry, but you have Stage 9 Animes.

Hey… I made another Wanda Vision type thing.

This thread takes place in Shadelamp City, home of the Troper Troopers, valiant kid superheroes with attitude who defeat villains while doing classic quips!

You can either play as a Troper Trooper or a villain, and it’s basically like a Saturday Morning episodic kids cartoon… for the most part.

At one point, one of you finds out Shadelamp City… is a fake. You’re in a simulation and your friends are trapped with you. No matter how hard you try and convince either your fellow Troopers or the villains, they don’t believe you… so you’ll have to find proof.

However, a mysterious entity is trying to make sure you play your part… FOREVER.
