The TV Tropes Forum RPG zone is divided into 3 different zones, normal RPs usually have a thread in each of these.

• Role Playing Singups: The first place to go in order to join a game or start your own. In this place the GMs post the basic settings, story and rules of the RPs and the players post their own characters and wait for approval to start posting in the game proper.
• Role Playing Discussion: Where all the OC talk goes, like discussing character actions and a place to ask questions.
• Role Playing: This zone is where the actual Role Playing takes place.

Please do refer to the Role Playing Rules for the guidelines on which this section of the Forum operates. Different R Ps have their own rules, though the ones outlined in the Role Playing Rules thread cover the basics of what is enforced here.

Double post to add that this thread may also be used to discuss new RPG ideas before launching a Signup thread.

And with that in mind, I've been thinking about making a RPG in Hogwarts of the Harry Potter books, maybe in actual time after the main characters have all graduated. I was wondering if anyone liked the idea and would want to take part?

My younger siblings and I started something like that when we were on a long car trip/vacation a few years ago. Except the series hadn't ended yet so it was set during the series.

But, anyway, yes, this one is interested. There would be a lot to sort out though, we may have to make up a few new teachers to take over after the casualties from the Battle of Hogwarts.

Another interesting idea I came up with while typing this post, if you/people involved have a great deal of time to come up with stuff, would be to create an entirely new school in the HP-verse, maybe in a different country. That way one wouldn't have to deal with as many continuity things, although finding enough players to fill as school with original teachers would be difficult.

Well if people prefer another school altogether I may be able to create a lot of teachers to appear for different classes. Since they wouldn't come out together all too often it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Besides it would be fun to experiment with creating a new School.

Still there's the issue that Hogwarts, the Houses, the rivalry, secret tunnels and all of those are a major draw to the game. It's a really fun setting to play in and explore because it's a known one.

Personally I like both options if maybe I'm leaning a bit more towards playing in plain old Hogwarts. Still I'm open to whatever the other players may want.

I'm not really into the Harry Potter magic. Just not flashy enough for me.

On the other hand, I'm all for a Quidditch RP.

Well there's always the Quidditch team.

Maybe your charater tries to recruit as many crazy people as he or she can to make a new Quidditch team.

Perhaps it would be appropriate to add a small description beneath each RP listing? Nothing involved, just a 10 word overview or such.

Alright, I'll get to it, Though I fear that many will end as Exactly What It Says on the Tin.

^ Also, names of the GM's of each would probably be useful, so people know who to talk too if they are curious about an RP.

Could this thread be used to... maybe request a new RP? Or, suggest, or something? I'm not very experienced with R Ping, and I don't trust myself with good project-maintenance, so I don't feel up to make one myself ^^; . But none of the ones I saw quite suited me, so...

I'd be really interested in settings in a normal high school or college setting, or anything similar? Like, slice of life, or romance/comedy/mundane drama, or anything like that! I don't think I'd mind terribly if there were other, uh, elements to it (bits of fantasy, supernatural, whatever?), so long as it has a basic/similar ^ premise ^_^ .

If there's something like this already that I missed from above, I'm sorry, please point it out to me!

I see there's an HP RP being considered, but unfortunately, I haven't read the books in the longest time, so I don't think I'd do well in a fandom-related setting. I've forgotten almost all of it!

Well almyki there's the The Academy Role Playing Game which has it's own space. I don't know much about it but it sounds like what you're looking for, still I don't think it has seen much activity in a while.

The initial stage of The Curse of Hinamizawa is just kids from the same school getting to know each other so you might like it, but then afterwards there's going to be a lot of Murder and Horrror so it isn't exactly what you might want.

My last suggestion would be the Xavier Academy of Gifted Youngsters RPG if you don't mind the whole superpowered alumni.

Or you can always make your own game, I for one would be interested in a pure Romantic Comedy in Highschool setting game. Since such a game doesn't require much of a plot you wouldn't need to GM almost at all.

Still if you need any help don't be afraid to ask.

Seeing as I kind of jumped the gun and just created the sign-up and RP threads, and in the spirit of discussion, what do you think of my ideas? It's been quiet in the threads so far, and I'm trying to see if anyone is interested. I know I'm new, is there anything that I am doing wrong?

You haven't done anything wrong Gault, but if there's something that I would recomend is that you trade the post in the Signup thread and the one in the Roleplaying Game, when I read both one seemed like the other to me.

What I can say is that lately the Roleplaying Forums have been kind of slow, so may want to seek players all over the forum. You can put a link to your RPG with a small description on your signature so when you post elsewhere people will notice your RPG.

Also I think that most of the people that frequent the RPG Forums are a little bit more into Fantasy and Lighter games. I don't know if they're into Roleplaying but the tropers Barkey and rallyfan 9000 seem to have more realistic and or military interests so they might be a good place to start if you can get their attention.

Well I mainly said that to lure some players into playing World of Skare Brae, also I think I prefer Taco's description of that RP over yours, "A Low Fantasy RP. The unique thing about this one is its Darker And Edgier Deconstruction of a lot of fantasy tropes."

I believe the description better seperates it from Generic High Fantasy RPG

I want to spinoff the RP we had at the apartment thread, what's next?

What kind of spin-off? New apartment? Continuity reboot? Marrying another troper and moving out?

Specifically, move the battle we were carrying out 6 years into the future. Some of the players decided it was a Cerebus Syndrome, 3 of us at least liked the plot and didn't want to throw it away.
