Anybody know when the sixth volume is going to come out?
I get the feeling it will be the last one. Will Scott kick Gideon's ass? Will Scott and Ramona work things out and grow-up? Will Knives continue to be Scottsexual?
I don't know when it's coming out, but I think O'Malley said it'd only be six volumes long. I'm pretty sure he said that the comics would all be out before the movie came out, and it's probably coming out this year, since I think they've already wrapped shooting and all. They're close enough to releasing that people are constantly harassing both O'Malley and Wright on Twitter about when a trailer will be out, anyway.

i started to read Scott Pilgrim recently, hearing only good things about it. I'm at volume two. They lost me at the end of volume 1. I was reading it expecting it to be good, and for a while it was. And then it sorta goes downhill. The strangest things happen, wit hno logic or rhyme or reason to it, and it goes on as though they are everyday things.
Of course this is what I get for reading it expecting a semi-interesting romance that was well-written. I didn't know the writer would get Dragonball Z involved...
Okay, I don't want to rag on it, it's not the worst thing in the world, I just really really need to know why everybody finds it so great. my Bilefascination keeps me going at this point but I don't think I'll be able to go on without screaming at it.
When All Else Fails, you have fun and flirt wit da ladies, dats da Drawings way!We read it because it's silly and fun. That doesn't sound like something you're interested in.
It's a love letter to video games as a whole. And all the silly humor and shout outs make me smile.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.It's not that I dislike it entirely, I was just at least hoping that when I walked in, I'd see an explanation or two. A world that pays homage to video games is not in the slightest a bad thing. However, if you have no idea what you're getting into and find the most random things seem to happen and not only is everyone cool with it, but there's no rhyme or reason to it, one would be slightly put off.
right?
When All Else Fails, you have fun and flirt wit da ladies, dats da Drawings way!I think that if Scott Pilgrim were a video game, it'd be much more of a 16-bit RPG than the platformers/action games it openly references. Divided into turn-based battle sequences as well as long text bubble marathons; the whole thing works like a video game, not just the crazy fights between Scott and the Exes. The dialogue scenes are much more realistic ( by contrast ), but they're still an altered, magic reality.
We Are The Wyrecats Needs Tropes!@ AC Ideally everyone would know what they're getting into. Hell, the back of the first book talks about beating Ramona's 7 evil exboyfriends to find true happiness.
How could you read that and not think this was going to be very silly?
I have a top hat. Your Argument is invalid.I didn't quite read the blurb when I first read it. I was literally planning on jumping in blind on what I kept hearing was great.
judging by how interesting it has become by volume 5, I should leap before looking more often.
When All Else Fails, you have fun and flirt wit da ladies, dats da Drawings way!Stupid Sixth volume! get released faster!!
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Everyone still worrying about Michael Cera and his supposed "no-emotion" might wanna checkout his ridiculous webshow "Clark and Michael". Just sayin'
The new trailer has me pretty solidly sold on Michael Cera, not gonna lie. And I was one of the biggest skeptics when I first heard! :D

Ha! Logic. Who needs it?
I think a story/franchise that runs on Rule of Cool is much better served by not bothering to set up the ways it's different from the real world. Trying to ease people into it just makes it harder to maintain suspension of disbelief.
If anything, the best practice is to, within the first few pages, have something utterly ridiculous happen just to show the audience what sort of story to expect, and then keep doing it without even a token effort towards consistent world building.
@Mattargh: I'm not worried about his ability to show emotion. I was just a little more worried about his ability to play a character who always came off to me like the twenty-something male slacker equivalent of a Genki Girl.
@Foxtrotpenguin, I love your Wallace avatar.
If anyone's still wondering, volume 6, titled Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, comes out July 20.
We must move forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.SO LONG, WHY MUST IT TAKE SO LONG?!
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.This fear of Michael Cera honestly boggles me. I think he's perfect for the role of Scott Pilgrim...Especially considering the kind of angst Scott has gone through.
Amateur cook Professional procrastinatorCera seems like a wooden actor. Scott is not a wooden character.
I'm certain that falls under Insane Troll Logic, but my opinion stands.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.My favorite gag in the series, hands down, is in Volume 3, where random inanimate objects say "ssssscottttt..."
That and "If your life had a face, i'd punch it."
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.If your life had a face, i woul punch it in the balls.
...
GODDAMMIT I CAN'T WAIT 11 MORE DAYS!
Just read Vol 6.
I wish Gideon Graves got the attention and issue length that Envy and Todd got in Volume 3. Otherwise, it kicked ass!

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.The Gideon sections did feel a little rushed, but I really loved this volume. It had a perfect mixture of action, humor, and meaningful developments.
Plus, there were a ton of great payoffs. I feel that the entire series is better now because of this volume - a lot of stuff that just looked weird for the sake of it now ties together really well.
And I admire the fact that O'Malley used a humorous, off-the-wall crazy tone and setting to create a fairly poignant bildungsroman.
The final battle between Scott and Gideon And Ramona was rather metal though, what with all the blood.
