Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

At Video Games And Visual Novels, please replace the GTA entry with the following:

  • Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories: Donald Love somehow manages to reach a special level of evil despite living in a Crapsack World populated with gangsters, serial killers, and psychopaths. Introduced in Grand Theft Auto III, and having a cameo in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Love at first seems fairly standard for the series, arranging a gang war between The Yakuza and The Cartel just to lower property values. Though, at the time it was hinted he had more sinister appetites. This is eventually confirmed in this game, where he's shown feasting on corpses and sending Toni Cipriani to collect bodies for him to devour. Aligning himself with the Leone crime family, Love runs in the race for mayor, sending Toni Cipriani out to murder his rival's campaigners. Losing his fortune in his failed campaign, Love makes plans to regain his fortune, with his first step being to murder his mentor, real-estate tycoon Avery Carrington, in order to steal his city development plans. He then has Toni recover Carrington's body to cannibalize later. Love's worst crime, however, is masterminding the deaths of thousands of people through the bombing of the heavily-populated Fort Staunton city district, just so he can make money off of redeveloping the district. A thoroughly depraved man, Love would stoop to any low imaginable to fill his pockets or glorify his ego.

Word Cruft could use an entry on the dreaded "worst offender" phrase and the rest of its ilk.

  • Disparaging example phrasing: "[X] is guilty of this," "[X] is a particularly bad example," "[X] is one of the worst offenders," and other such phrases are totally useless for describing how a trope applies, and they come off as complaining whenever they show up. Since tropes are not inherently bad to begin with, there is no reason to use these phrases.

On Final Fantasy VII the The Three Facesof Eve entries say 'mother' when the role is 'wife' but all three of them are Zero Context Examples so they should probably be commented out or just deleted.

DTH. I rewrote the Word Cruft addition so that it fits the tone of the page. I deleted all The Three Faces of Eve entries on Characters.Final Fantasy VII for being Zero Context Examples.

On "Brown Eyes" under Western Animation, they list five "official" Disney Princesses with brown eyes as being Snow White, Jasmine, Mulan, Tiana, and Pocahontas. Belle (Beauty and the Beast) belongs on the list as well.

I've locked Monster.Sonic The Hedgehog. Declining the Brown Eyes edit: "Brown eyes, period" is not the trope and discussions of Belle's eye colour attracts wonks that we don't want to have.

For Osama bin Laden, can you please add the following work example to the "in documentary and fiction" section?

  • The novel Osama by Lavie Tidhar is set in an Alternate Universe to ours, where Middle Eastern terrorism does not exist (by implication, because the state of Israel was never created, either because the Holocaust never happened or more unpleasantly because it was more successful), but there is a series of Villain-Based Franchise technothriller novels about "Osama bin Laden" which echo al-Qaeda's actions in our universe. It's also the Ironic Hell for the souls of al-Qaeda suicide terrorists, who find themselves ghosts in a universe where their motivations and actions are completely irrelevant and incomprehensible.

On Monster.Film F To O, please change the link for The Ghost In The Machine to Ghost in the Machine.

On Monster.Highlander, in Kronos' entry, please pothole "the Four Horsemen" to Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Did the Osama bin Laden edit, plus some namespacing and alphabetizing. Did also the Monster.Film F To O edit; is the Monster.Highlander edit a correct application of the trope?

From what I can gather, yes. The usage on Horsemen of the Apocalypse (which also lists that example) is applied both to the literal Four Horsemen and the Four Horsemen-as-motif. A group who inspired the Biblical foursome In-Universe would probably qualify for both usages.

On the Literature section of America Saves the Day can the following be added:

  • Very subtle in The Books of Ember, but think about it. Americans built Ember, Americans populated it, and Americans provided the revolutionary solar-power diamonds that pave the way to the future. Perhaps one of the few non-war examples. Also ironic in that America helped cause the Disaster.

On the Western Animation section of Brown Eyes can the following be added:

  • Monolo Sanchez from The Book of Life, has brown eyes showing his down-to-earth attitude.

On the Literature section of Green Eyes can the following be added:

  • In Vampire Academy, the Dashkov and Dragomir families share the genetic trait of jade green eyes. They are also both known for stronger connection to magic than any of the other royals.

Monster.Literature M To Z: Please cut Nurse Ratched (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), who was deemed a cut in the clean-up thread after a negative vote.

Thanks. The Modern Warfare tree at Video Games And Visual Novels though should probably be with the C (alphabetized after Dragovich's entry). Also, please replace the Fairy Tail tree at Anime And Manga A To H with the one at Anime And Manga A To H.

Please add the following to DC Animation (before The Dark Knight Returns)

I've rearranged the Modern Warfare entry; I have to ask why the pages for the Modern Warfare games don't have the full title.

For the Anime & Manga edits, I'll wait until the sandbox is ready; no point in doing it in two edits. The DC Animation edit seems like a separate example; is it?

[up][up]Good point about Modern Warfare. I may work on that (is there anyway to change the links without having to do all 1500+ inbounds?).
That Sandbox won't be ready for awhile [lol]
As for Joker, yeah, it's a separate DC entry (since it's a film) but was subsumed by the VG entry since it's the same universe (hence the link to the franchise and the VG monsters).

For Live-Action TV, for The Originals, please make it:
