Dark Eldar. They're not widely played, and are frequently ignored. I can't actually remember the last time GW even so much as glanced at them.
"One thing, though- apparently the eldest goat is the bastard child of Muhammad Ali and the Hulk." ~ Exelixi, on The Three Billy Goats Gruff.^ And do so by having The Khan (White Scars Primarch) do it since he was last seen in the Webway. He announces his success by riding out of the webway on his bike (now covered in Dark Eldar skulls) and landing on landing on top of Wazdakka Gutsmek for daring to try and usurp his position as the galaxy's most Badass Biker.

Welcome to the Sea of ChaosUltramarines, if we're allowed to choose specifically.
Otherwise Tau or Necrons. Both very scrappy and annoying.
One of the bazillion Space Marine codexes. Come on, do we really need separate codexes for Blue Marines, Red Marines, Black Marines, Green Marines and Viking Marines?
We DO need the Viking Marines. The Ultrasmurfs, not so much...
I reject your reality and substitute my own!!!Dark Eldars. Seriously, WTF is that crap.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisYeah, kill off the Imperium and Replace them with Eldar.
Alternatively, Kill Off the Eldar and Focus on Dark Eldar.
I don't have patience or budget for the game anymore so what does my opinion matter?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI think we do need the Ultrasmurfs. Generic Marines ought to exist, they should just take less of the spotlight.
I think if I had to pick a race for storyline purposes, I'd have the Eldar finally die out and create their Death God. Not sure what effect that would have on the gaming scene, though...
Just the good elder or take the bad eldar with them?

hashtagsarestupidWell, the Dark Eldar aren't helping to make Ynnead, so I'm not sure it matters. I think I'd make it so the last of the Eldar died in a pitched three-way battle against the Emperor's Children and the Dark Eldar in the last World Ship.
It would be a nameless Guardian, and he or she would strike down a badly wounded Lucius before committing suicide and bringing about Ynnead.
Thinking on it, wouldn't eliminating the Craftworld Eldar (and the Exodites?) by having them succeed in awakening Ynnead would have some pretty drastic consequences because if I'm remembering correctly Ynnead's purpose is to destroy Slanneesh (probably with Khaine and the Laughing God in tow.)
That's going to severely upset the balance of power among the Chaos Gods, especially if the Eldar Goddess of Healing manages to get free from Papa Nurgle (or even distract at a crucial moment). Which at the very least is going to drive the Eye of Terror utterly berserk. I'd lay good odds of it taking out the Dark Eldar as well, if only from pure psychic backlash assuming Slaneesh doesn't just rip their souls out en masse in trying to fight back.
And if Slaneesh does die, as well as Khorne, Tzeenetch and Nurgle fighting to regain some sort of equilibrium your probaby going to loose all the Noise Marines, including one entire Traitor Legion.
Welcome to the Sea of ChaosI'd waste the Necrons. They wouldn't be missed.
Seriously, they need a new codex and the army list at least doubled in variety. If you can fit the entire codex into 2000 points...
Probably either the Inquisition or sororitas. that and the dark eldar.
"Coffee! Coffeecoffeecoffee! Coffee! Not as strong as Meth-amphetamine, but it lets you keep your teeth!"The Inquisition?! D:
Well only if you kept Dark Heresy and related spinoffs. Because they're some of the best things about 40k.
Come to think of it, 40k needs more spinoffs to depict things that the tabletop game can't practically play.
Keep the 'Crons and Tau. Love those mechs.
Dark Eldar can die, though.
^^ 40k has large-scale battles (Epic), small scale skirmishes (Necromunda), even smaller scale advetures (Inquisitor), and space battles (Battlefleet Gothic). I'm not sure exactly what they're missing.
Still with Dark Eldar. Annoying as some of the other races may be, they serve some purpose. Dark Eldar don't: they never really have an effect on the universe as a whole, and their conceptual 'niche' is already taken by Slaanesh.

"One thing, though- apparently the eldest goat is the bastard child of Muhammad Ali and the Hulk." ~ Exelixi, on The Three Billy Goats Gruff. They basically are dead, unless Games Workshop decides to finally release their new codex.
If GW decided to take them seriously and rework their codex quite a bit, I think the Dark Eldar could fill an important niche by being sleek, graceful evil as opposed to huge, clunky and corroded evil, you know?
I'd actually kill off a Space Marine chapter... let's see... Black Templars. It'd show that shit is real, because the Imperium is getting its ass kicked- and it'd lessen the Space Marine fever.
Dark Eldar. Those bitches made slaneesh and caused warpstorms that led to the Fall Of Man
If not Dark Eldar, then the Deimurg. NONE SHALL REPLACE THE SQUATS!
TALOSTALOSTALOSTALOSTALOSTALOSHmmm, hard to say.
Dark Eldar or some Space Marine chapter would be te obvious one (but the latter is a bit of a cop-out)
Similar would be just merging Daemons back into regular Chaos.
Necrons could go, I guess. Really, the ones that can't are Space Marines, Orks and Chaos. The rest is gravy.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntAs a non-player, I'd say the Tau can probably go without robbing the 'verse of too much awesomeness. In fact, just the Tau - leave their friends (like the Kroot) to wander the galaxy, with some trying to find a way to exist on their own, and the others turning to piratetry.
Those who accept their fate find happiness; those who defy it, glory.Actually, I think that chaos going apeshit and wiping out most of the space wolves and Cadia would be awesome and a great way to show that the universe is actually changing. That's my vote.
Popes for the Pope's throne!Nooo! Don't kill off my hairy drunkard Viking Marines!
I'd probably kill off the Dark Eldar; my vote'd go to the Squats, except...
which 40k race would you get rid of?
Okay i'm going to get a little "sophie's choice" here. Your working for games workshop and higher ups want to kill off a army set for real to add some drama and show that Shit Got Real. It falls on your shoulders to make the cut and sent some one to meet the squats. who do you purge and why?
