Was listening to Saint Asonia's debut album in preparation for a concert in Auburn (Anthrax, Alter Bridge and Disturbed playing together is like my dream show) and I noticed the riff in "Blow Me Wide Open" sounded familiar to another alternative hard rock riff I've heard dozens of times before.
Thus we reach Gasoline by Audioslave (2002). The structures are similar too, but that can be forgiven somewhat in your standard popular rock tune.

There's this song by Sum 41 that sounds very similar to Battery by Metallica. I can't really remember the name of the song at the moment but I'll try to find out the name immediately.
The name of the song is called the bitter end
Well, the chord progression is used in a ton of songs. In fact, Kurt Cobain admitted that the main riff to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" ripped off "Gigantic" by the Pixies, which, in turn, ripped off "More Than a Feeling." Of course, More Than a Feeling is most definitely not the first usage of the chord progression, but it is one of the most famous usages.
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"I'm pretty sure the origin of that chord progression in rock is the rock n' roll standard "Louie Louie". Or, at least that's the first widely known instance of it being used. Another song that uses it is "Since You've Been Gone" by Rainbow.
I'm pretty sure that song was written as a direct tribute to Metallica, especially considering it sounds quite different from Sum 41's usual style.
Is it just me or does “Say Goodbye” by Chris Brown sound a lot like “Burn” by Usher?
Peace is the only battle worth waging.Okay, I didn't see any recent topic that matched the subject so I post it here since I felt it was close enough and didn't want to pop up back an old and forgotten topic from the bottom of the forum ...
But I have this bizarre thing : I systematically end up mixing Message in a Bottle by Police with Smooth Operator, by Sade whenever I listen either one of those two songs and I can't prevent it .
It goes smoothly, no pun intended, like it is normal ! Almost as if the songs were actually in a medley on the same album !
What do you think about it ? Here are the two songs for you :

Liberty, equity, autonomy ! Proud neoliberal cuckservative whore ! Now for sale !Sorry, but I've listened to both songs and they don't sound similar at all to me.
But while we're here, dare to compare:
Dream Theater - A Nightmare to Remember (at 35 seconds)
Gareth Coker - Escaping the Ruins
Almost exactly the same, but surely a coincidence.

The very start of Beck's I''m So Free reminds me of Nirvana's Lithium. It's at least partially due to guitar tone.

There's a boss theme in Sonic Colors that borrows a riff from David Bowie's "Earthlings (On Fire)".
Which one?
The very beginning of Tom Petty's Free Fallin' and Steve Winwood's Back In The High Life Again are really similar to me - like sometimes when I hear the start of one I expect it to turn into the other. "High Life" came first, but I wouldn't say Tom Petty ripped it off - it's just a similar tempo and chord progression in the verses (it's not even all the same chords, I don't think), plus this certain glossy, smooth production style that seems pretty common for the late 80's.
The 1975's "Give Yourself A Try" and Joy Division's "Disorder" sound the same.
And "Love It If We Made It" by the 1975 is also eerily similar to "The Downtown Lights" by the Blue Nile
Good evening !
Okay, now you got to give it to me : They sound similar, right ?!

Liberty, equity, autonomy ! Proud neoliberal cuckservative whore ! Now for sale !To me, Train's '50 Ways to Say Goodbye' sounds waaayyy too much like 'Phantom of the Opera' in at least two parts- especially the 'you say it's meant to be' in the former.
It seems to me that the opening drums to The Isley Brothers' "This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)" and The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" are pretty similar. Then again, they're both Motown, so that probably explains it.

Hey.Compare Undone - The Sweater Song by Weezer to Hazy by Red Vox and tell me that Vinny didn't have the former in mind when writing it. I'll wait.
They even jacked the opening drum fill lol
I read a review of No! by They Might Be Giants that accused them of ripping off the Muppet Show theme for "In The Middle, In The Middle" - there are some slight similarities, but "In The Middle" is a Covered Up version of a traffic safety PSA from the 1960s, before The Muppet Show was even on the air. Maybe writers of the Muppet show ripped it off, probably without meaning to.
Pretty unlikely one I just noticed - at about 45 seconds in, "City Of Sails" by Midnight Syndicate starts reminding me of "Kiss From A Rose" by Seal. Kinda makes sense because "Kiss From A Rose" does have an oddly fantasy/pseudo-medieval feel to it... but I did not expect a neoclassical soundtrack to Dungeons & Dragons to start making me think of Schumacher-era Batman movies.

Am I the only one that thinks that ZZ Top's "Cheap Sunglasses" sounds like Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" in some parts.
Mainly the main riff in the each song but they differ in other parts so they don't sound exactly the same.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure
