So, I was a little late to the party, but I finally discovered, and finished, Star Trek Destiny by David Mack.
Three books that cover time and space and feature our beloved Federation and its allies (and frenemies) in a pitched battle for its very life.
I thought it did a lot of things well, above all, I think it captured the feeling of what a pitched war to death, would feel like. Not since, fittingly, the TNG ep "Best Of Both Worlds", have we really seen the Federation in all out panic mode as an undefeatable foe literally has it's foot on its neck. The heartbreak and tragedy, the desperation, and a crapload of Heroic Sacrifices.
Of course, it also IMHO did a lot of things badly, and the Ass Pull to conclude Part 3 was especially egregious. It almost felt like Mack expended so much effort giving us two and two-thirds books of awesome that he got tired and simply threw in the ending to The Matrix trilogy.
