No, that's covered by Primal Stance.

Nope. It's about the natives being grunting, uncultured subhumans - usually antagonistic, inevitably Flat Characters.

Their appearance is just one aspect.

Neanderthal Man. Java Man. Peking Man. Piltdown Man. Nebraska Man. Encino Man. Our cousins or predecessors. What were they like? ...

the generic subhuman native of the Lost World. He most likely Wants Our Women, and is prepared to pursue them across hundreds of miles of jungle and savanna. He is applied in hordes, can rarely be reasoned with, and basically exists to be triumphed over by Mighty Whitey so the locals may be properly awed.

has the wiry build of a chimpanzee, though he is generally around human size if not larger. He'll be covered in hair (usually not fur) and will rarely wield any weapon more sophisticated than a knobkerrie. Seldom if ever will females or children of the species be seen, perhaps explaining his fixation on the Nubile Savage in the Fur Bikini. His language, if he has progressed beyond the grunting stage, will be simple and brutal, and his gods will exist primarily to excuse his bloodthirsty nature.

More intelligent species of Frazetta Man exist, physically little different but typically adorned in primitive jewelry and using weapons as advanced as swords or axes. Such varieties often function as Mooks for the local Big Bad, and may shade over into orcish or Beast Man territory.

It's about both the appearance and the behavior of the generic prehistoric or "caveman".

Hence, I suggest "Generic Caveman"

Pulp Novel Savage, just to tweak one.

Ooh, I like how that one parallels Noble Savage.

I don't think I like any version of Adjective Savage. The Savage Indian, Noble Savage, and Savage Piercings consistently refer to fully human people with primitive technology. This trope is about creatures that are part human, part ape.

The trope is close in spirit to Beast Man, so why not just Ape Man?

Because it's not about creatures that are part human, part ape. It's about often hairy humans, with savage mannerisms often but not always based on apes.

Indeed. If we used Ape Man, it could be confused with direct hybrids like Pig Man.

Exactly. There's a reason that Planet Of The Apes isn't on the page. That has Ape Men, but they aren't this trope.

Nah. This is a stereotypically primitive, degraded native population, not just a particular kind of real-world hominid that tends to crop up a lot.

Primitive Human then. It's hard to find one that fits this trope perfectly.

Standard Savage Caveman? I really don't think anything about being apelike belongs in the name, as again, a Primal Stance is just incidental to the trope.

Even living in caves is not mandatory. They may well be jungle-dwellers or the like.

Caveman is a catch-all term for pre-Homo-Sapien-Sapien humans, it's not exclusively used to describe men who live in caves.

From what I got from the trope, there's a physical aspect to it. Specifically the sloped forehead, hairy body, very heavy muscling with a potbelly, the Primal Stance is just incidental and common.
