Have to agree that's not a very good name. I thought it meant the overly-defined musculature Frazetta was most known for, not "ape-men", which he wasn't.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I thought it was an art style where all the men were drawn as overly muscled. It's not. I'm with Foxy Mod.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickRename.
Agree on rename. I think the "ridiculous muscle definition" trope is out there under a different name. I'll check on Heroic Build.
Fight smart, not fair.I'm a huge Frazetta fan and I agree. Rename it.
Deboss, who's ass is that? Fantastic.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. And I figured it referred to poses like this◊ - big muscular half-naked Manly Man With a Sword and the half-naked Womanly Woman who loves him.
"Draws cavemen who aren't anthropolicgally accurate" wouldn't be on my "Top Ten Things I Know About Frank Frazetta" list.
Jet-a-Reeno!I don't know who the character actually is. Electivirus posted the image and now it's my avatar. I think it was mentioned that it was a gundamm character, and the only purple suited gundam character I can think of is a guy.
Fight smart, not fair. It's a funny name, but yeah, it needs to go.
Rename.

I think it needs a rename.
Standard Savage, Generic Savage or maybe just Hollywood Caveman all seem to work.
I think that Holly Wood Caveman, whilst tropable in its own right, is a far broader concept than just 'cookie-cutter primitive tribe in the background'. Consider, for instance, The Flintstones, a commentary on the modern world filtered through a Hollywood Caveman lens.
What's precedent ever done for us?Ape Man is perfect. It's simple and obvious. And I'm surprised we don't already have that one.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. We do have Beast Man, but that's unrelated.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Ape Man needs to exist.
Frazetta, in my opinion, is known more for Nubile Savages and chicks in armor...
Yeah, Ape Man works.
Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions. Some would confuse that for actually being part ape (taxonomy aside). Plus the name comes from Tarzan, who was raised by apes, not simply this trope.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. If the picture is accurate, which I'm assuming it is, then it looks like a guy who is ape like.
Fight smart, not fair. That just implies acting stereotypically primitive, not about being like an ape.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Primitive is most commonly represented as being ape like.
Fight smart, not fair. That's using a side aspect as the name, not the central point.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yes, I will admit that it's my own idea, but I still like Generic Savage. Gets the point across pretty straightforwardly, I'd say.
What's precedent ever done for us?
Title depends on a working knowledge of Frank Frazetta's work. In other words, Fan Myopia.
Alternative suggestion: Generic Savage.
