Good young adult literature. Just throw some out there. I'm looking for a variety.
The Bartimaeus Trilogy. They're literally the only young adult books I still find interesting, because despite being for kids they are just that good.
Scepticism and doubt lead to study and investigation, and investigation is the beginning of wisdom. - Clarence DarrowRead Sherlock holmes; there is a reason he was the founder of the private detective story.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Seeking to improve my German reading skills, and I figured I might as well try to read something enjoyable. So, any German literature recommendations? For all intents and purposes, I know the language, so complexity is not an issue.
I've only read the translation, so the original must be fantastic- Im Westen nicht Neues

"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.Looking for anything considered a "Classic" of literature; i.e. What are books most people would consider the best ever written?
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.The Count Of Monte Cristo is definitely considered a classic and is a great read besides.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!bunch of lists of classics, though it's obviously West-oriented and wont't have things like China's "Four Classics" or Indian or Persian epics.
On this site, School Study Media and Public Domain Stories may be places to look.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby
the latter having "great" as a title

This level of trolling is reasonable for Commander Obvious. What do you think of this, everyone? Will now start on The Count and Gatsby, because I have read most of the others.
Thanks!
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Ooh, Gatsby and Mockingbird were my favorites from school. And they were short, too. Count, on the other hand... good luck.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I rarely read anything from the last 20 years, because when looking back I can read the books that were vindicated by history.
I loved mockingbird though, I really did.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.i also recommend A Prayer for Owen Meany
because its a great book with CAPITAL LETTERS FOR ONE CHARACTERS DIALOGUE
and totally did not inspire this person of mine at all
Can anyone recommend me:
Horror, fantasy, steampunk literature. I just picked up Teatro Grottesco by Thomas Ligotti today.
History Books. Like books on the Aksumite Empire, victorian culture, or anything really.
Sociology books. Again, anything you'd like to recommend I'm open to.
If you don't mind heavy reading, The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt. Very interesting look at the rise of fascist movements in early 20th century Europe.
Horror fantasy steampunk all at once?
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeableno, although it if you do happen to know something like that...
Not really... though Nightside is Cosmic Horror Urban Fantasy and has a couple of books focusing on a side character who was in suspension out of the Victorian era and is an ex-GENTLEMAN ADVENTURER, now newspaper manager.
Ooh, ooh, Boneshaker probably counts! Zombie apocalypse in alternate history 1800s Seattle while the American Civil War rages on for decades? Y/N?

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableProbably Y, but we'll see. Thanks for the Recs
I'm looking for something super schlocky. The more violent the better. Sci-fi is a bonus but not a requirement.
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am...Battle Royale
HP Lovecraft works usually involve horror and blood and may have some classic sci-fi elements to it
My pleasure! :D (As long as I'm here, here are some more diversified selections: I Am Not A Serial Killer and the rest of the series, for horror/fantasy; and, using this list to refresh my memory, Kenneth Oppel's Airborn, Dru Pagliosotti's A Clockwork Heart for Steampunk, and, if you can find it, Ward Moore's Bring The Jubilee. (I've also heard good things about Mortal Engines, Leviathan, Anno Dracula, and The Peshawar Lancers, but I haven't read them myself yet.)
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
Seconding The Lies Of Locke Lamora and Mistborn and adding Elantris.
Do they have to be epic/high fantasy? Because I really want to start throwing out I Am Not A Serial Killer, The Dresden Files, Men At Arms, Labyrinths...
