Bato has two pokemon left, a Kadabra and a Haunter. Soon I will announce Mari's E4 Team...

(Victory Road)

Bato: All I have left are glass cannons. Come on, Kadabra, make me proud!

Mari: You've gotten better, though, managing to take Kangaskhan down with just parafusion. (Leafeon, hang in there! You can do it!)

Leafeon prepared a new barrier of Razor Leaves as the pokeball containing Kadabra landed. Right before the Kadabra could react, Leafeon loosed a barrage of Leaves!

The Kadabra hissed in pain as a couple of leaves sunk home, but even as the barrage landed, another Reflect barrier was already being set up, the other Leaves just glancing off it.

As Leafeon circle-strafed around Kadabra, he felt something lock onto him and focus. Without warning, his remaining Razor Leaves lost their power and fell around him.

Bato: Yes! Disable worked as planned!

Distraught but not beaten, Leafeon blitzed Kadabra, kicking him squarely in the gut with a Quick Attack. While the Reflect barrier held, the Kadabra still winced and buckled under the force of the attack.

(LP Note: Even a Reflect barrier cannot protect a Glass Cannon like Kadabra from the worst of Leafeon's attacks!)

As the Kadabra stumbled back, he narrowed his eyes and crackle

Leafeon just barely dodged the Psybeam, his fur standing on end just the the PSI attack nearly hit him. As he landed, his feet buckled under him, the poison Meganium inflicted earlier continuing to affect him...

Mari: Leafeon! You're much stronger than Meganium's poisons! Don't let it overcome you!

Hearing his mistress's words, Leafeon gritted his teeth and just barely grazed the next Psybeam, using the scant sunlight he had managed to collect to heal up a little with Synthesis.

As the Kadabra used his PSI Disable to seal Synthesis, eyes closed tight and powers fully concentrated, he failed to see - or sense - Leafeon approach.

Leafeon used Facade! It's a Critical Hit! Kadabra fainted.

His opponent toppling, Leafeon stumbled his landing, the poison sapping at his strength.

Leafeon was hurt by poison!

Bato: I'm amazed at your Leafeon's resilience and agility! He should have been either blasted down by Psybeam or succumbed to Meganium's Poison Powder by now.

Mari: It took several days of hard training to get Leafeon to that level, just so you know.

Bato: I have one last Trump Card! Go, Haunter! (smirks) Your Leafeon's Razor Leaves are still Disabled, aren't they? Good luck trying to hurt a Ghost with Ineffective attacks...

Mari: ...D'oh!

(LP Note: Leafeon's Fatal Flaw is that he was evolved waaaaay too early, long before he would learn Bite. No healing, no Razor Leaf Danmaku, no chance to survive make his time unless he can outlast Haunter.)

Yeah, it's a shame I evolved Leafeon too early in this regard. Oh well, at least Knock Off is still in Leafeon's movelist :V

(Victory Road)

Leafeon had no time to curse his lack of Razor Leaf or Bite, as the Haunter immediately began to launch a continuous barrage of Shadow Balls.

As he dodged the streams and waves of Shadow Balls, Leafeon continued to attempt to remove the Disabling mental block placed on him by Kadabra, concentrating fiercely as he barely grazed barrage after barrage.

As the poison ate into him, Leafeon's steps faltered, and a Shadow Ball found its mark. Ouch!

Mari: Leafeon! Hang in there!

Sliding to a halt painfully, Leafeon realised that the shock of being struck full-on had actually broken the disabling mental block! Quickly recharging himself with Synthesis to fight the spreading poison, he jumped just another Shadow Ball impacted where he had been resting and recharging.

Pulling a fresh barrier of Razor Leaves, Leafeon began his barrage anew. Leaves and Shadow Balls flew about, explosions happening as the conflicting projectiles impacted each other. In the midst of the madness, Leafeon attempted to signal to his Mistress...

Mari: I got that! All right, switch-about for...

....Only for Haunter to stop his barrage and stare.

Pokedex: Haunter used Mean Look! Leafeon cannot escape!

Mari: What?!

Are they still on Namek Is Mari still fighting Bato? (yes D: I'm going to try and end it this update though)

Also, link pl0x for that image.

(Victory Road)

Bato: Haunter! Use Confuse Ray and scramble your foe's perception!

Mari: Leafeon! Use that trick Gnaw always used!

Which trick was she talking about? wondered Leafeon, as he tried desperately to avoid getting confused by Haunter's mesmerizing glare, I know I can't tank special damage, and I certainly can't abuse Elemental Effects like Gnaw do with Waterfall-ackfgerfgbudsfgbsrt!

Pokedex: Haunter used Confuse Ray! Leafeon was Confused!

Feeling disoriented and seasick, Leafeon barely grazed the follow-through barrage of Shadow Balls as he tried to recall the other trick Gnaw loved to use.

Mari: Think of Bugsy's Scyther!

Aha! THAT trick!

Trying to find that axis of balance in his confusion, Leafeon shut his eyes, and found that without the floor and walls spinning wildly about him, his balance was much, much better, although his legs were still unsteady.

I wish I could learn Drunken Boxing, thought Leafeon, as he grazed yet another Shadow Ball and charged, using his Quick Attack technique for speed, Razor Leaves spiralling around him as they formed a tapered tunnel form.

Spiral Sign ~Razor Leaf-Drill Driver!

The massive tapered column of whirling razor leaves broke straight through the haunter's last Shadow Ball and impacted.

Pokedex: It's a critical hit! Haunter fainted!

Bato: How do you teach them all these crazy techniques?!

Mari: Oh, after training and sparring, we all settle down to watch the old Kanto Animation Channel on TV every day. My guys must have been secretly practicing copying some of those fancy anime attacks.

Bato: I didn't know television was that educational.

Exhausted by the impact of that last Shadow Ball, the effects of Meganium's poison, and the strain of using his ultimate art, Leafeon gratefully keeled over in a tired but utterly satisfied heap.

I won...

Mari: Oh, no! Leafeon! (grabs a Revive, a Pecha Berry, and a bottle of Moo Moo Milk)

Bato: Shall we count that last bout as a draw?

Mari: All right, (busy healing Leafeon) I can accept that!

Bato: (sigh) Looks like I still have a lot to learn.

Mari: You're already very skilled too, you know. Anyway, I'm still pondering why the Rockets seemed to know you.

Bato: That one, I'd like to save for the future, because I'm not ready to talk about that. See you once I finish training. (leaves)

Mari: See you next time, then... Oh, he's gone. (turns to Leafeon) Feeling better?

Leafeon: Prrrrr. (Much, thanks. I think I over-exerted myself during that last attack there.)

Gnaw: Hrrrm. (Be careful when doing that, I heard from a migrating wild Pidgeotto from Kanto, during that sparring last week, that some of the pokemon buried in Lavender DIED from overexertion after one too many such desperation moves.)

Leafeon: Fiii?! (Seriously?!)

Gnaw: Grmph. (Yes, really.)

Mari: All right, guys! Next stop, Indigo!

Almost at the end of the first "half" of the story!

Renko: I hope she won't get stalled out like poor Carla did when facing Cynthia's Garchomp!

(LP Note: Yeah, a Lv65 Garchomp can 2HKO a Lv94 Lax Ninetales with Earthquake.)

Gonna need another DS lite too (wearing the D-pad out on the left side ;_;), I'll probably buy one next payday.; it's gonna be Silver like my current main one. I will then have 3 functional DS units: My olde DS Phat, a dark blue DS Lite I got just for Heart Gold ENG, and the replacement silver DS Lite.

Resting up in the fading dusk after the duel with Bato, Mari fell asleep right at the exit, guarded by her beloved Gnaw from the unwanted attentions of various Golbat, Rhydon, and Graveller. Oh, and the creepy Pokemaniacs Renko had warned her about, too.

Waking up early the next morning, Mari stepped out of the dungeon of Victory Road to be greeted by the sight of...

(Indigo Plateau)

Mari: The ground's all paved out here. So many statues...

(LP Note: Perhaps the statues of previous League Champions and their Pokemon?)

Mari: Oh, wow!

The massive Pokemon League Headquarters (Kanto/Johto branch regional HQ) reared proudly out of the mountain-filled countryside.

Mari: We've trained hard for this, haven't we?

(Gnaw nods, his excitement mounting as he senses the air of high-leveled battling)

Mari: Well, let's get on with this challenge!

(League HQ Indigo, Reception)

Nurse: Heal your team up before you take the challenge, Miss Han.

Mari: Thanks. Say, is that terminal over there like the regular Pokecenter ones?

Nurse: Yes, it is! Feel free to use it.

Mari: brb changing team, lol

Nurse: Excuse me?

Mari: Sorry, force of gaming habit there :/

And now, for Mari's E4 Team!

Mari: Looking gooooood, guys.

(Gnaw nods to Kenji in a way that says, "Don't fall behind, duck.")

Kenji: Awk. (You'll need to be faster so you can catch up to me!)

Old Man with Abra: Hello, trainer. I used to have Abra here teleport people back to Cherrygrove, but recently they fitted navigation markers so people can Fly back to Johto.

Mari: Are you sad you don't have a job to do here anymore?

Old Man: Not really, it's just a little lonelier here now that fewer trainers have to talk to me.

Next: KOGA WILL (edit: whoops, lol)

I'll be playing sort-of-"Live" from here on out, now that I have caught up to where I am. (Thousands of curses at thee, vile Schedule Slip!)

W-ell, just take a quick peek at this mini-update.

(Unknown Location, Inside Storage System)

A Cherish Ball and a Heavy Ball pop open to reveal a Lugia and a Mew.

(LP Note: Because Arceus insisted upon it, we'll be able to understand what the two are talking about.)

Lugia: Ahhh, I was getting tired of the slow waves inside that Heavy Ball's simulated environment.

Mew: You're lucky, all the Cherish Ball could generate for me was a four-dimensional facade of Arceus's old Hall of Creation.

Lugia: I though you couldn't perceive more than four dimensions anyway?

Mew: Well, I can sense their presence.

Another pokeball opens, revealing Mari's HM-wielding Krabby.

Mew: Oh look, it's the ferryman crab.

Krabby: No jokes about my HM movelist, please.

Lugia: Did Mari ask you to give us something?

Krabby: As a matter of fact...

(Storage Log: Item transfer "Linked Cam TV" from Krabby to Lugia detected.)

Krabby: She asked me to give you this.

Lugia: What's this? I haven't seen such a fancy little human device (apart from pokeballs) in a bit.

Mew: Looks like one of those little screens linked to a camera, so we can watch Mari.

Krabby: She wanted you two to watch her enter the final leg of the League challenge.

Lugia: Seriously? Wow, and I thought I was going to get bored out of my skull here.

Mew: I sensed a lot of potential in her to do some amazing feats.

Lugia: You lose out there; I got to taste her talent at training her pokemon firsthand. Man...

Mew: Still surprised by her Electivire Riding the Lightning past your face?

Lugia: Well, yeah. That, and her Feraligatr is strong, it took a crit from my Aeroblast to take him out of the fight.

Mew: He's not in the top percentage of Feraligatr, but he still has some sharp fangs on him. (turns to Krabby) So, how's Mari treat you guys on the field?

Krabby: She's okay, never mistreats or overworks us. I never have to battle, but I sure need to smash lotsa rocks and ferry everyone over the waters. At least I get my fair share of rest in my pokeball, and all the delicious food I can eat.

Lugia: Eh, Surfing isn't the worst duty you can have.

Krabby: I'm jealous of Gnaw, he's clearly Mari's favourite.

Mew: Of course, he's her Starter, and I could see their unbreakable bond of friendship without using PSI to read it.

Lugia: So, (prods cam TV receiver) when do we get to watch the fun?

Krabby: As soon as she enters the first hall, I guess.

Mew: It'd sure embarass Lugia if she lost, hahaha.

Lugia: Oh, she won't lose, not to him.

@ace Dont no if i already asked this but is Henry already evolved?? A very daar dragonair could be very handy against the E4. My dragonair(i called her Icyura) is one of the 3 strongest Pokémon i have. I caught her with the pokewalker and trained her from our first meet. She is the one i always put in my pokewalker.

@everyone I also need an E4 team and i thought my friends could help me choose my team. Here are some choices you van pm me or just put it here(that would be very anoying for ace. Choices: mostly justed by me; • My feraligatr (i name it gnaw too) Nature: brave Attacks: ice fang, crunch, slash and headbutt • my ampharos (called denryu, name in Japan) Nature: docile Attacks: thunderpunch, thunder, thundershock and headbutt • my gyarados (called ragera) Nature: jolly (this is strange jolie is french for fun{in dutch it means leuk} but gyarados don't look happy so it is strange that his nature is jolly{i dont know what jolly means in eglish}) Attacks: bite, dragon rage, ice fang and whirlpool • my icyura (i already told that it is the name of my dragonair) Nature: brave Attacks: fire blast, surf, aqua tail and slam • my pidgeotto (needs a name) Nature: bold Attacks: twister, fly, gust and quick attack • my swinub (needs a name)(almost an piloswine) Nature: adamant Attacks: ice shard, icy wind, strength and mud bomb

less used; • my glaceon(needs also a name) Nature: mild Attacks: tackle, helping hand, sand-attack and quick attack • my farfetch'd(yes i called him kenji too) Nature: brave Attacks: fly, aerial ace, slash and air cutter • my poliwhirl(needs à name) Nature: bashful Attacks: bubblebeam, mud shot, Belly drum and wake-up slap

i'm also open for new ideas. For more info just ask me in a pm or reaction on ace's blog(but thats annoying for her)

o yeah you wanted à link to my site!? araceus.tk <<Just copy paste it to your adressline.

annoying for her

ahem?

Anyway, here we go with the Elite 4 Rush!

(Indigo, E4 HQ - Ground Floor)

Door Guard: Good luck, Miss Mari!

Mari: Thanks.

(Storage)

Mew: Oh! We have a link on the mini-tv!

Lugia: Seriously?

Entei: Hey, let me see!

(Indigo, E4 HQ - First Floor)

Mari: Wow, the special effects in this room are sweet!

Will: Thank you. Most of it is actually a Psychic projection from my mind.

Mari: You can do that with PSI?

Will: It's easier than actually launching psychic attacks. Anyway, welcome to the Elite Four Challenge! I am Will, one of the most fearsome Psychic trainers you will ever face.

Mari: If you pull a Psycho Mantis on me, I'll make you mindread all the earworms I've heard recently.

Will: Oh, don't worry, I never learnt how to do that with my PSI. Anyway, are you ready to begin your challenge?

Mari: My team sure is!

Mew: Here we go!

Spoiler of Will's Team

Elite Four Will wishes to battle! He sent out a Xatu!

Mari: Go, Yuyuko!

As she burst free of her Premier Ball, Yuyuko solidified around a ball of shadowy power, which immediately shot out at high speed. Will's Xatu, taken completely by surprise, was unable to foresee a possible option of evasion before she was knocked out immediately.

Lugia: Just how fast is that Gengar anyway?!

Mew: Fast enough that she could sweep Will by herself! No, seriously!

(LP Note: Behold the power of the 252/252/6 Glass Cannon build!)

Mew: It sure goes down fast to Sucker Punch though.

Will: Woah! I didn't even have enough time to try and respond to that!

Mari: I learnt that even Psychics need some time to prepare.

Will: Well played! Next, I'll be sending out Jynx!

In the spirit of fair play, Yuyuko allowed the Jynx to fully deploy from her pokeball, then shot' right up to her face with a "Boo!" Totally and utterly shocked by the unexpected move, Jynx was then knocked out by another Shadow Ball.

Lugia: She didn't say "Urameshiya!" She could have said it!

Mari: You pokemon just can't keep up to Yuyuko, you know. Of course, I want her to stay fresh, so I'm switching her out.

Will: She is fast.

Mari: Who's your next?

Will: Go, Exeggutor!

Mari: Leafeon, make me proud!

Next: More Will!

Aaaaand we're back!

(Indigo, E4 HQ - Will's Arena)

Will sent out Exeggutor! Mari switched in Leafeon!

Mari: I know you can do it, Leafeon!

Leafeon didn't bother with Razor Leaf! He tried to use Facade! Exeggutor retaliated with Psychic!

Mari: Woah! You can't take another hit like that! Switch out, let Kangaskhan take over!

Mew: Poor Leafeon's base 65 special defense is a definite weak point there.

As the pokeball containing Kangaskhan opened, Exeggutor used Hypnosis! Kangaskhan nodded off!

Mari: Chesto Berry, go!

The scent of the Chesto Berry made Kangaskhan sleep-eat it! The terrible DRY taste woke her in time to barely avoid getting hit dead-on by Exeggutor's PSI!

Lugia: I've never tasted a Chesto Berry before. How dry could it be?

Krabby: Dry enough to make Grass-types wince and reach for the drinking water.

Will: How long can Kangaskhan keep up, I wonder...!

Will and his Exeggutor dropped their focus long enough for Kangaskhan to spin kick Exeggutor over with a beautifully-executed Fake Out! The attack disrupted a charging PSI attack!

Mew: C-c-c-combo breaker!

Following through beautifully, Kangaskhan lowered her head and butted Exeggutor fiercely!

Pokedex: It's a critical hit! Exeggutor fainted!

Lugia: I call hax!

Mari: Long enough to do that, I suppose?

Will: Well played! Slowbro, you're next!

Mari: You're in no shape to keep on at it, Kangaskhan! Tag out and let Sosuke take over!

Mew: Shift-style battling is very abuseable.

Sosuke took initiative! As Slowbro was about to realize her opponent, a Thunderbolt fried her!

Will: You're a powerful trainer, indeed! Here's my last pokemon! Go, Xatu!

Sosuke began to build an Ice Punch! As he leapt towards Xatu, who was preparing to unleash Confuse Ray, he cancelled his Physical attack and let loose another Thunderbolt at point-blank!

Will: Fantastic! You excel at battling at high speed, Mari.

Mari: Thank you.

Will: The door to the future, and your next challenge, is now open. I have yet to forsee your future, but I already know that you hold a lot of promise.

Which is why we have Self Imposed Challenges that involve this. Including that recent infamous one that I'd rather keep away from. We do not need this franchise turning into Fire Emblem in the worst way.

I'm too used to using it to distinguish between "casual" (read: owning ingame npcs) and "serious" (read: Battle Frontier and PVP battles).

(Indigo E4 HQ, Koga's Arena)

As Mari arrived, she noticed something unusual.

Mari: Hmm, Koga seems to be elsewhere. Perhaps he's in the Gents'? (Opens pack) This'll be a good time to hand out some healing items to my team.

(Some Lemonade and Moomoo Milk later...)

Mari: I wonder if he's concealed somewhere?

(Out of his pokeball, Kenji senses something! The ninja duck throws the bottlecap from his drink at a dark corner of the room!)

Shadowed form: ...! Spotted!

His cover blown, Koga bounds off the ceiling and lands in the middle of the room.

Koga: Well played, little Farfetch'd, you could sense me even when I concealed myself well.

(Kenji nods politely.)

Mari: Oh, you were hiding? I thought you were in the men 's room or something.

Koga: Well, I am a Ninja.

(Koga notices something.)

Mari: What's got your attention?

Koga: ...You have a shuriken on your person?

Mari: Well, it was passed to me by an old lady who belonged to the ninja clan that once lived near the Lake of Rage.

Koga: Ah, her? I remember visiting the hideout under her shophouse when I was but a boy for training. In a way, this means that she has adopted you into her clan, Miss Han.

Mari: I hope we're not going to have a ninja fight to the death.

Koga: Hahahahaha, of course not, their- no, your clan is friendly with mine. What it does mean, however, is that I might test or teach you some little ninja arts throughout the course of this battle. (raises pokeball) Let us begin.

Elite Four Koga is ready to battle! he sent out an Ariados!

Koga: I specialise in poisons, a powerful tool that can weaken the most durable of pokemon easily with a little skill and patience.

Lugia: That's because it deals percentage-based damage.

Mari: Go, Yuyuko!

As Ariados prepared to attack, Yuyuko got the first strike! A PSI shockwave knocked the poisonous Spider unconcious!

Mew: Yuyuko is really schooling the Elite Four here, her terrifying speed and special attack power is far too much for Will and Koga to overcome!

Koga: Such speed, to win before your opponent can even make a move! I must step up my game.

Koga sent out Forretress!

Mari: Well played, Yuyuko can't really put much hurt on it.

(LP Note: or can it? Focus Blast will still do neutral damage, and Forretress is more known for its ability to soak up physical punishment than its special defenses.)

Mari: (Please don't give away my moveset so easily!) Come on, Yuyuko, let Sosuke tag in!

As Sosuke stepped out of his pokeball, he was forced to graze through a barrage of shuriken-shaped Swift projectiles! He retaliated with a Fire Punch! Forretress fainted!

Koga: Your resourcefulness clearly shows in your team-building, an essential trait all ninja must learn!

Koga sent out Muk!

Mari: This is going to be tough.

Sosuke watched Muk ooze closer. Leaping high, he launched a Thunderbolt! Muk countered by shrinking its body profile, making the Bolt earth itself harmlessly on the Arena floor!

Mew: It's a shame the Indigo League rules don't restrict the Evasion Clause.

Lugia: I remember one little punk who used a DT Umbreon to tank me during a failed challenge. Thankfully, I crit-one-shotted that cheese-abuser with Aeroblast before it got to the old danmaku pokeball barrage.

Pokedex: Minimise raised Muk's Evasion! Muk avoided Sosuke's attack!

Koga: Evasiveness is key to a ninja's ability to avoid and elude trouble!

As the fight raged, Sosuke found himself increasingly annoyed by how narrow the hitbox for his Thunderbolts were! To make matters worse, the strange Screeching sound was driving him to distraction.

Mari: Let Yuyuko take over, Sosuke!

As Yuyuko tagged with Sosuke, Muk took the opportunity to use Minimise again...

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!
